Hey Nate, How were you instructed to don and doff? I am seeking some evidence-based information on instructing nurses on applying this in a patient's home. We seem to be lacking in manufacturer's information. Thanks for any direction. Barbara

@@barbaramcelroy707Usually put the Papr on first then gown and glove after so it goes over the PAPR. Then you can remove the gown and gloves, and wash your hands and remove the papr and wipe it down. CDC has some guidelines but it seems like it was geared more towards the EBOLA outbreak.

Good question, I have wondered the same thing, lately people have started to buy there own from what I have seen. I see some people wear a N95 under them, wonder if there will be research on it

It depends some hospital use this version and other hospitals use something else called a CAPR

Or gov.uk You should be able to find the most updated guidelines for PPE. In attempts to keep healthcare personnel safe, it seems their guidelines are in line with that if the World Health Organization (WHO). Yes you can sit on a chair with the papr it will not affect it if on the side. I am not sure how long you can wear the papr for. It just feels like sitting under a air condition unit blowing in your face. So if you can tolerate it for that long then ok, but after 30 minutes to 1 hour you need a small breather from it.

you should not, it should have a good seal where all you would feel is cool air. If you smell anything from outside the Papr then you do not have a tight seal and need to get it verified or coordinate with your fitting team.

It really depends on the filter. But in the case of the VersaFlo, there are five choices of cartridges: * TR-6590N - Multi-Gas/HEPA * TR-6530N - OV/AG/HEPA * TR-6710N - HEPA * TR-6510N - OV/HEPA * TR-6350N - Formaldehyde/HEPA * TR-6360N - Ammonia/Methylamine/HEPA * TR-6320N - AG/HEPA The TR-6710N, if so equipped, only filters for particulate matter. Smells organic vapor (gasoline) or acid gas (mercaptan [flatulence]) would not be filtered out.

Yes, you will smell odors that aren’t trapped by the filter, and it’s perfectly normal.

@@gurjindersingh199 there is so much global demand due to COVID that the manufacturer will only sell to hospitals. Why dont you wait 12 months so the Doctors and Nurses get first option to obtain them ? You could use a bilge fan as used in boats , put that outside and feed clean air through a hose to your mask , that will keep you safe.

Then you do not have a tight seal around and the size might be to big for you.

abdulqadir ali : when you put the papr shield on, it should cover all the way and touch your chin to cheeks all the way to just in front of your ears. It shouldn’t be extremely tight though where it doesn’t allow any air to pass through the back portion. The idea is that true positive pressure pushes it back out away from your face, and the only way to go is back if you have a proper seal, which isn’t too tight.

@@RNScrub ​ This is the 3m VersaFlo PAPR with Disposable hood and w/ the QD/Swivel hoses which prevents kinks (well not all kinks ;) In the United States it's sold by typical welding supply companies for ~1500-2300 USD. Replacement hoods are ~30 USD. The units w/ the M200 to 500 series hard helmets are re-usable. Obv, use whatever donning/doffing procedures make sense in your clinical setting or welding/painting/sandblasting setting.
