Tank looks great! Par of course is affected by light height as well. BRS did a review of 4 black box LED with viparspectra being best. In their discussion they did tests on all heights. 9" (22.86cm) seemed to offer the best par. Where that measurement is bottom of light deflector/panel to the water surface. It looks like yours isn't that high.... Of course it could be an illusion, or me not seeing right since I had dinorreah this morning 🤣 Best wishes!

Wow, I didn’t expect that low par in your 6ft! Be careful and ramp up slowly when you upgrade… 🙂 Maybe you can put the max spect over the 6ft with the setting you use? That would be a good example of how much par you loose in deeper water and how much stronger a light for deeper water has to be.

Interesting videos thank you 😊, have my vipar with the reflectors you reccomended 12 inches of the surface and I can't run them higher than 80 on the blue without bleaching or bailout. I ran the whites at 1% for months due to nucance algae, then one day when I was at home I kept bumping up the whites and ended up at 60% thaught I'd leave it there for half hour or so but nothing retracted or took any notice so I left it there. 0 changes in growth rate and no changes good or bad in any of the corals, it's been like that for 2 months now and all seems happy. Think there's abit of the par Vs pur thing going on, please can you do an update before you change the lights with updated par due to the white and if you notice any difference before you swap them. Look forward to seeing your new lights.

Didn’t you take the lenses off to increase light spread? I took my lenses off and did a par before and after. Went from 400 par to less than 100 in the middle.

Been wanting to get a par meter but the apogee ones are like $575 American. Did you like the one you used?

The 90 degree lenses were removed right? Does that play into the lower par readings?

Yea when take optics it’s only the whites. I would put some or all optics. Trust me I use sell them for those lights white can burn but blues are very cool

Hey Lauren! Please bear in mind that Seneye PAR readings can be as low as 50% of those of the Apogee. I had Ai Hydra 26HDs over my 7 foot peninsula and the Seneye was giving me 500 Par readings at the top of the rocks. When I bought the MQ510 the readings were actualy around 250!!! I belçieve that Sam Parker also has a video comparing the Seneye to others and gets to similar conclusions. Happy reefing!!

Just watch the seneye, in my experience they read exactly double what the apogee meters measure :)

Not sure how I can send a photo, but I’ve set up an very easy way to use the seneye device without getting your hands wet.

Seneye par meters are not very accurate in my experience, ict who released the ict delete are bringing out an affordable par meter soon so keep your eyes open :)

Those lights are horrible. I'm glad I didn't buy into all the people trying to push them. I think they knew how weak they are
