Tutorial for making a paracord cross using a Vertical Crown Knot. This is the first I know of this knot being taught on the internet. I learned this knot from a Boatswain's Mate, who was the barracks manager, In 1974. I was assigned to clean the barracks for six months as a young E3 in the US Navy . Since this makes two back-to-back crown knots with a side weave it could be called a Double Crown Sinnet.
===================
I should have realized my audience might use metric measurements. Please forgive me.
To make the cross without the necklace loop, to carry in your pocket or put on a keychain, use four 18 in, or 46 cm, cords.
To add the necklace loop add 32 in , or 82 cm, to one of the 18 in (46 cm) cords for a total length of 50 in (128 cm). Fold it in half and clamp at 9 in (23 cm) from the ends.
Note: I rounded up on the in-to-cm conversion. This is why there is an extra cm on the 50 in conversion.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for your service. This has to be the best cross i seen made with paracord. Most the sides are loose and never fully attached to the middle. Thank You again for making this video. God Bless

Thank you for the video - I made a duo tone for a friend. For a moment I was puzzled but recognised it as what I learned from JD of Tying It All Together as "Coyote Trail" - here on KZfaq. He ties everything vice versa thus the orientation of the cord changes and he shows it a bit different. I find this needs very similar cords to look good. And although it is not a complicated knot technique I have nevertheless always found it challenging to make it look uniform.

Thank you, very good instructions and easy to follow. I used 550 cord, but I think I might try a smaller paracord, the 550 did not come out as neat. Also, not as flexible to wear as a necklace, the cross kind of hangs sideways. Love the clamp idea, could you show a video on how you made that?
@mrbillsparacordcross6103
@mrbillsparacordcross6103 7 жыл бұрын
This is the clamp I use: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btWjo6yq1KfSXWg.html You can also use a foam macrame board with pins. When the knot is tied correctly all of the force is to the sides and are balanced. So, the force at the holding area is small. The clamp and pins are used to prevent the necklace loop from slipping when tying the second knot and to hold the two halves in place when forming the cross arms. Check out some of the color combinations I've used for different organizations: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p9qmiLGWxqnFZX0.html

Hello, I'm brand new to your Channel. I want to make a pet memorial for the side of the road. I thought using paracord that I've worked with before would be great because it would withstand the elements. Have you made anything that you could suggest I use in this capacity? I was thinking I could bend a simple cross frame from metal, and then use paracord over it. Any suggestions would be awesome ️ ❤️

550 with the strands. I’ve found melting the ends, so the inner strands cannot slide out, makes a more consistent knot.

Great! Except for tying the second knot for th top of the cross the clamp just holds things in place. I've accomplished he same thing with a heavy book. As for the second knot I spoke of earlier. When tightening it the necklace loop will slip. I've taken a straight pin and put it through the necklace cord, just above the first knot, to allow me to properly tighten the second knot.
