Double plafond knot

In this video I tie a double plafond knot. While this knot is considered a bit challenging, with a bit of practice it can be done. It can spice up many projects, generally I'd use it as a part of a knife lanyard, key fob or zipper pull.
To practice I recommend taking at least 4.5 feet (135cm) of cord. The stiffer/more rigid the cord the better.

Interesting tying method. I like the structural understanding it shows. Tightening the top box to that extent midway seems like a recipe for tension problems, but ymmv. 8-)

Interesting insight! So far I have had good success with this technique. Like in most knots, it is the tightening and dressing that determines the look of the knot.

@@Paracordguild of course you should do what works for you. For me, however, I find balanced tension comes from carefully removing slack from my knots at bit at a time as evenly as possible. When I’ve over-tightened structurally (ears are a different story 8-) and need to reintroduce slack back, it’s a fraught activity.

I understand. I do this intuitively with many knots. I find doing this systematically quite interesting. Need to pay attention and see how it works!

Hi Marco , do you know how to expand this knot ? Do i need to simply repeat the entire knot with the slaq or do i need to expand it on the first part of the knot ?

Hey! I am using a nylon maul. It is commonly used in leatherwork for stamping, punching holes etc. It is quite affordable. The heavier the better :). Mark
