Vera, a young girl from Belarus, goes to Nizhny Novgorod to find her missing friend Olesya. A wealthy family hired her friend as a maid through a recruitment agency.
In the agency, Vera manages to get the address of the Bobylev family, living in an elite suburban settlement “Paradise corner”, where her friend worked. Vera comes to the settlement and finds her boss’ wife Lena lying in a pool of blood, Lena miscarried. Vera helps Lena and promises to keep silent about what happened. Lena hires her in place of the missing maid.
Vera meets Karelskaya, the widow of the late crime novelist. Vera asks her about the previous maid, the old lady warns Vera that she should mind her own business and keep her mouth shut.
At the end of the first day, Vera realizes that everyone in this little piece of paradise has skeletons in their closets.

After watching the whole series it is interesting to look at the beginning of Episode 1 again - the only problem with those Russian TV series is that they are addictive and once you start you cannot help watching the 6 or 8 episodes that follow. Although at the end I may have a problem with the last twist and turn, there are enough twists and turns to satisfy anyone wanting suspense in this series, not to mention credible characters and good acting. The main actress is just remarkable as the young girl from Belarus thrown into a world of money, hypocrisy, and exploitation. Just watch it.

I love this series! watching it for the second time cuz I'm trying to learn russian. I just wish they'd have russian-english subtitles together. some how that helps me break down what's being said and I just learn much faster that way.

I came across this show randomly, but absolutely love its style. Apart from the good acting, mystery, & tension...it looks pleasing to the eye. Is this a Russian series? I'm not sure. But a few years ago, I was studying music video creation. One thing I appreciated about Russian video production was that they made good use of filters & lighting effects. In North America, our videos looks so standard and dull. I look at the start of this episode 0:29 (when the girl runs through the field)...the effect is amazing. It feels "ethereal" . Thanks for sharing this series with English subtitles!

Ooo. Scandinavian stuff is dark. People with bad PTSD like me can't enjoy such. It's hard for me to find quality but healthy viewing on this platform. Any suggestions? I don't have the ability to pay for streaming.
