Here we have the last paragliding tutorial of the 5 tips series. I hope that these videos have helped your flying. I hope to do more in the future to benefit beginners and experts alike. I really enjoyed making these videos, vlogs will be coming back soon!
A massive thanks to Mael Jimenez for working with me on this whole project, for both his work behind the lens and the tips themselves.

Super important to visit the landing field before actually flying a new place, well done for bringing this up.

Any tips about taking references in order to know if I'm too high or too low before starting the U landing? I'm just starting and have no height feeling yet. Thanks a lot! 🙂

Good stuff Jack. Maybe Tip 6 as you bunched your wing, to clear the field and pack at the edge - lots of folk seem to forget that one.

Oh yes, that's a fab tip. Nothing irritates me more than people packing in the middle of a field. Or setting up on the middle of the launch!

More great tips Jack, very useful stuff about assessing the landing field and its options. The whole business of how to judge your approach and when to make your turns could make another great video (or series!). Keep up the good work

Thanks dude, really glad you liked it 😊. Landing seems to be a really tricky topic for everyone, so I'll try to give it another go when I get a chance!

So useful. Really enjoy these educational videos from you Jack. Chuck your motor on at some point and give us some paramotor top tips too. Great edit. Love that intro.

Hey Jack, thanks for the great video! One landing-related topic I would like to see a bit more discussion on is the landing flare. I know this is pretty basic, but I think there is a lot of subtlety to the flare that isn’t thoroughly taught in schools and which can vary from wing to wing. Would super appreciate your thoughts on this (or even a video!) if possible. :) Sincerely, A pilot who wants buttery smooth landings

Sorry about that!! It was hard to know which way to angle the video. Maybe I can do a how to flare video for you guys. You're very right though, it's a challenge!!

I love the video when those are some great landing tips. One of the difficulties I have we're iFly there's not a big mountain with a flat-plane . It's a lot of rolling hills. It might look like a top landing but not have all that wind. If you had a very irregular surface on the landing field would it be good to look for a Hi-Point, set up for top landing.

@jack what @MM KK mentioned below, I am too particularly very very keen on landings. Till final approach is just fine with me, but when it comes to the touch down, I do make mistakes, this video in particular did help me to clear one thought, but I still want more of final touch down videos. I am already loving one thing that when its head wind and once you start flare, you can actually get breaks to near zero for creating some serge and then final full flare...immediately....which is just before glider picking up the trim speed. Hope its not the butterfly landing they call, but I think is ideal one and close one. I am liking this way though but before I practice myself, I do want to see the effects with cross wind. I doubt this smooth landing is possible on a little cross wind with same approach.

As for the landing tips, those are indeed quite basic, what I think most beginners find difficult is choosing an approach line with different obstacles and wind directions plus adapting it to unexpected lifts and sinks. I haven't seen a comprehensive video on that anywhere yet, maybe a good idea for the next one :)

Hey Jack - nice Vid! It's always good to review what one's learned some time ago. Thx for that! There's one thing concerning me, though. You put your whole hand through the loops of your steering handles. Try to keep your thumbs outside to minimize the risk of your hands getting stuck in them in case of an emergency, i.e. when shit's about to happen and you'll have to throw your reserve.

Hi Schall! Thank you so much for your comment and support! I have got into many shit-fan moments, twists, autorotation, falling into my wing, into lines, reserves and thankfully it has not been an issue yet. I have acro to thank for all of this training and prefer to have my hands through the toggles, especially when flying acro for various reasons. I understand this technique is not recommended for everyone though, thanks for your concern and safe advice.

That's quite a personal choice, many top pilots fly this way,. Each wrapping technique has its pros and cons. Also it works better wiht some gloves and breaks than others.

Could you revise this and talk about entering landing too high. My fist landing was scary I was 10plus m above and had no experience in a turn break procedure to flair in a turn. I'm wondering if you may have a trick for that?

Beautiful video! I think it'd be even better if the sound levels were more consistent, I found the transition from loud intro music to quiet voice at the beginning somewhat jarring. Very informative though!

lots of nice conent Jack, but please pay attention to the volume levels, they are changing a lot during the video (intro/ground/air, etc.) and it gets quite disturbing
