I have been following you since your first videos. Thank you for doing the more complicated math and figuring out what needs to be built up first. As soon as I got to paragon I was looking for a video explanation like yours and glad I found it levels ago. 100% agree with your overall assessment and it has helped me with my leveling. I play a highly mobile Teleport, Blizzard, Conjuring and CD reduction barrier based build so damage and lucky hit have been my focus since the start and I have been consistently able to fight stuff about 20 levels above since level 40 without much trouble. I pretty much went from level II to III finally beating the campaign at 55 and from III to IV at around 60. Focusing on the non-physical damage really helps those who like to make hybrid builds using abilities from Frost, Fire and Shock.

Running an hybrid Blizzard ice spikes + Ice Shards sorc and thought of the same thing - build base damage first before having the multipliers kick in. The leveling of the sorc in the early 50s to 60s was a lot of tweaking (and praying for good loot) as getting power early on allows Crit, Vuln, and the x multipliers from gear and Aspects shine, including those random Overpower procs. Much appreciate the work done on the recommended Paragon setup! Using Icefall as the 3rd board, it worked wonders having the Cold damage% and damage to Chilled targets covered so additional multipliers (Crit, Vuln, etc.) would have some nice base damage to boost. As Frozen targets are considered Chilled according to game dev's tweet, this felt wonderful on my previous Ice Shards build, and now a hybrid build which I prefer more. It was an ordeal to respec Paragon boards and with the info on these and some testing, I was able to build the best iteration of my Sorc at the moment, sitting at Lv97 and relatively doing okay with NM mobs up to 10 levels higher than me unless there are uber detrimental affixes, lightning obelisks + support shaman buffing the heck out of mobs, a mis-Teleport, or lag + Drifting Shade. 😅 He's a literal glass cannon who cannot take punishment very well haha Also, I am not sure as I haven't dived in fully to Lightning or Fire builds, I might be wrong but it seems like for the 3rd paragon board (the preferred element for damage) have different optimal paths and number of nodes to reach the namesake nodes, glyph slots and desired rare nodes. 🤔

I watched this last night. I got on this morning and swapped my boards. I made this the 3rd board. I hit lvl 76 today. I went from 23 to 33 nightmare dungeon with no issues. It actually went about the same. Helltide was a breeze. I don't know how much difference it made but it definitely feels stronger. So THANKS!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! This (and your other 2 videos) have changed the way I think about my Ice Shard Sorc. So many build videos focus on building up crit and vulnerable and don't even mention non-physical damage. I'm level 75 and once I reconfigured my paragon boards as you described, it changed my ability to clear NM dungeons significantly. I only wish I had known this before I started leveling up my glyphs...I can't wait to see how things change again once I have the enchanter glyph leveled up! One question I have is, do the different forms of Control stack? e.g. If I'm using the Control aspect on gear and have the Control glyph sloted in my paragon board, how do they interact with each other? Numbers and facts, it's what we love as Sorc, now all Blizzard needs to do is fix the numbers and what they ACTUALLY do vs represent, and maybe look into the fact we have a Glyph that literally does nothing... because there isn't "bonus cold damage" in any node type.

I just wanted to say this is probably the most useful sorc video for Diablo 4. Finally someone has provided a way to figure out damage. The Attack Power number in the game is so WORTHLESS. Your spreadsheet is really terrific. I'd also like to point out that, while Diablo 4 is an unfinished game with a lot of problems - and I feel Blizzard has earned most of the vitriol they've received, they did succeed in making MUCH more build variety than Diablo 3. There are MANY variations of wizard that can be played and have them be viable if you put the time in. Fire Sorc still struggles, but it can work. Anyway. BIG THANKS!!!!

Glad the algorithm showed this to me. Rolled a sorc for my second char and wanted to go lightning or fire. Found frost boring, am currently on firewall/meteor at lvl 54. While getting to paragon with my renown points did help up my damage as I was struggling before that, I still feel behind and have been considering scrapping the class. Already see some changes I could make to boost what I have been doing, as well as now need better gear than what I have in a big way.

I believe I had pointed out that a good example is that your crit/vul/over is all based off of your prime damage type ie cold,frost so the higher your cold or frost the greater your crit will be, this seems to me what everyone is missing. Ppl just think crit is crit. Blizzard sorc ice spikes crit big time and the crit is directly effected by how much cold dam I have.

I’ll tell you this helps ALOT on your damage! It changed everything for me - lvl 80 Lightning sorc and i could only do like 70-150k at max before but after changing the whole board(s) i now do up to 400k dmg!

The paragon board layout you display starting at 22:41. I'm confused because on the board you see the glyph names in yellow and then the overlay text shows glyph names but they differ. Is there anyway you can share your paragon build planner link?

Best thing to do is use the node boost glyph on the vuln board, and the vuln glyph on the burning board to get the most vuln possible. Also more glyphs is usually better than more nodes because u just get way more from the glyphs. Early game tho this is solid advice

Hey man. Came back just to say I tried your paragon board setup and it was a game changer for me. I unlocked t4 at lvl66 and felt kinda like a tourist. Helltides and regular dungeons had me on edge when it was normally a breeze at t3. Anyway. Changed the setup and goddamn. I’m back to shredding. So wanted to give a big thank you. Have some questions if you don’t mind. Does non physical damage apply to perks like +x% dmg to frozen/chilled/vulnerable enemies? Or it only applied to cold fire lightning? Second question is can we see your gear? I want those numbers and I think it’s my gear that needs a touch. Wanted to have a look at what yours is. Can you share? Third question it which socket between control and exploit should we go for at the enchantment board? Thanks in advance man and keep up the great work honestly.

Loved your first d4 vids explaining this, you should change the title to beginner understanding boards and glyph power. I had to keep explaining why my damage was so high without having massive investment in just vul or crit. Finally would just point them to your vids. Or tell them they need to buff there base dam type phys or non before everything else. Then endgame respect to make sure you activate board nodes that have the highest value because your Intel or dex requirement will be out of reach on your last board or boards. Does this reflect season 2 changes

Can you also share how your paragon board looks like? i followed your recomendation and oh boy, the damage went up dramatically. so thanks for opening my eyes. i would like to compare boards and see if i can optimize it even more.

Can you discuss the opportunity cost of running Aspect of the Elementalist? To maintain smooth QOL in actually playing you need to sacrifice affix and paragon points for max mana + and some form of resource generation or cost reduction. This 100% skews your crit gear numbers as its not insignificant.

Great stuff and thank you for sharing. Just curious... Why not use the Tactician Glyph in either your enchanter or frigid fate board and work your way to a 6th board by changing your pathing? You could add elemental summoner and pick up some mana along the way to a glyph socket with decent dex around it.

I think that multiplicative thing is very similar to the diminishing returns in many fields of human endeavors.
