Excellent question! There are 2 reasons. 1, the stabilising material on the belly side only runs up the to the point where siyah section begins. This material is 2 mm thick and to make a smooth transition I needed to use something which fades into the natural shape of the bow. 2, I wanted to create a Kaman (Mughal) style siyah and the original bows have a very sharp angle at the limb/kasan transition (kasan eye) due to the 7 piece spliced core structure. Unfortunately you can't really bend modern fiberglass in such angle so I imitated the look by using a piece of wood and I shaped it to look like it has a sharp angle. So it's nothing more than aesthetics. Hope this helps
