Back in the 70’s you could go out there at night. And if you’re out there at night, it’s very creepy. It’s so easy to loose your bearings at night in that forest. Back in the 70’s there were dead bodies found out there, and were blamed on the mob in Lawton. But it is very beautiful out there.

The parallel forest is a good example of the consequences of monoculture when it is applied to forestry - the reason it is so quiet is because of the limit in species diversity .. Eastern Red Cedars take up every niche from ground to canopy as individual trees, and do not attract much wildlife on their own. We now recommend planting diversity in reforestation efforts, with emphasis on planting appropriate species for the land form. Grand dad's recommendation was just "Ya need to plant trees" - he likely had suggestions, but that's all the boys from The State heard 😉🌳🕊

Another great video. I really enjoy your content. I looked up the location and was surprised that somehow I missed it on two different trips to the holy city of the wichitas and Mt Scott in the Lawton area. Now I have a reason to go to that area to explore.

Wow, very interesting how the forest was planted as a wind break. Is there any information saying that the forest was beneficial. Realistically I think the stone structure was likely the work of Anglos in the late 19 or early 20th century.

No, I was unable to find any info on the results of the experiment, but I am really curious. And yes, indeed, the stone structure looks quite intact, so you may well be correct. Thanks for watching, and have a great weekend, Tom!

Great adventure once again, I always enjoy your videos and can't help but notice you have many subscribers now, a lot to keep up with as far as comment replies go so be advised I will still be viewing all videos you post regardless of a reply back to my comments or not.. Comments are increasing too so consider it just to streamline your operation a bit as it looks like you are a one man "Band" out there....
