My oldest son just passed all of his tests and is now a Paramedic! I might get some rude comments BUT....Paramedics/EMTS should be paid just as much as nurses. They're 1st on scence, 1st to administer life supportive measurements and they keep pts alive! They dont get enough credit😢 Thank you for this show❤❤❤

As a first responder thank you for a comment like that and to your son I wish him the best of luck and remind him to celebrate his victories no matter how small because the bad days are gonna be very bad and he needs to feel them when they happen remind him it’s okay to feel his feelings but reach out to his peers and others who can empathize with his experiences. Sounds like he’s got a great mom behind him too so he’s gonna be great! ❤️

I’m not being mean or rude. I’m a flight nurse with a masters in nursing. I’m a first responder who can and does far more on a scene than EMT/P is trained to do. Do you honestly believe that we should make the pay? I’ve saved many a paramedic from making fatal mistakes. Maybe you truly don’t know what you are talking about. I actually train paramedics in advanced life support, drug that they are allowed to administer, etc. They don’t have half of the training that I do. They play a very important role in what they do. Should they attain equal training and experience, then yes they should. Until then no. You are basing your opinion on feelings not facts. I’m not saying that they aren’t important, because they are. But to honestly look at the facts, there is a HUGE difference between us. If I should ever need to attend to you or one of your loved ones, I hope that you will see the difference. Even nurses at the hospital without my training have far more education, training and abilities than paramedics. You should be proud of your son and his professional accomplishments. But you honestly don’t know the difference or all of the facts.

Have been watching the show. 3 yrs ago I relied on them to get me to hospital for treatment. I could not have been in better hands.secured my home, and my dog. We had to wait far to long ramping outside of the emergency. Hi time the health department rectified this unacceptable situation. These 4:27 Paramedics need to know that their efforts are not undermined...

As a firefighter paramedic the dispatcher is incorrect. If the person is gasping they are in respiratory distress not cardiac arrest. Meaning do not do cpr because the person has a pulse.

If they are gasping but their heart is not beating it is known as "respiratory failure" :) cardiac arrest is when there is no cardiac activity or gasping period and respiratory distress is when there is still a pulse but the breathing is agonal aka distressed. Just learned the difference in EMT class :)

I was trained in CPR as first aid. When people have respiratory distress, they told us that we were to do CPR to keep them breathing normally and supply blood flow to the brain/organs. It was something that at the time was 'newly' imputed. Might be the reason why.

To clear up the questions on seizures. As a seizure patient, depending on the degree off seizure your heart will now beat regularly and your breathing can slow down. If a person is not getting the oxygen they need, able to breathe as they should, the heart rate will go too fast or too slow. If someone is not getting enough air and the very rate is too low, they may ask that you step in to help the patient breath or do chest compression if they are not getting enough oxygen.

Is it the dispatchers first day? Like giving CPR instructions since she knows it's actually a seizure... of course the breathing is different and stuff, but until he completely stops breathing, that's no indication for chest compression. Yeah I know protocols and telephone, but still come on, she's a professional call taker.
