Tim McGraw made his Yellowstone debut during a flashback to the year 1893 on the premiere episode of season 4. Yellowstone airs Sundays at 8/7c on Paramount Network.
#Yellowstone #ParamountNetwork
Yellowstone is a drama series that follows the Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner). The Duttons control the largest contiguous ranch in the U.S. and must contend with constant attacks by land developers, clashes with an Indian reservation and conflict with America's first national park.

“Someday my family may seek to hunt that valley. And if they do, you remember me.” James took those words to heart. The Natives gave his daughter a place to rest and his family to thrive on, it’s the least he can do.

@@TheSequimKid Fate is a interesting thing, seems to have created a bind between the Duttons and the natives. First in 1883 a Dutton daughter falls in love with a Comanche warrior that saves her and her family, then is killed by a Lakota warrior. Then a Dutton son seven generations later falls in love with a woman from another tribe and has a son. Bearing the name Dutton. Fate is interesting.

First thing I ever saw him in was The Blind Side and was pleasantly surprised at just how good an actor he really was. Their land was stolen, and he shouldn't have to ask a favor! Like if you had a single reference grounded in non fiction that idea of what their lives were actually like would change drastically.... I hope so anyway.

"The friends of the Indians" was a group that was started to try and help them. From their perspective at that time the Indians were viewed as behind the times and so they tried to bring them into the modern world of that time. This is criticized by some today but they are looking at it from a modern 21st century perspective and not a 19th century one. Today we understand and appreciate the unique culture of the native Americans and realize that things could have been different. The eastern natives had already been displaced and the war between the British and the French played a big role. Then along came the war between Britain and the USA in 1812. The fur trade also played a big role. The American civil war also caused a lot of problems for native Americans The white european settlers did not have it easy too..These things are seldom mentioned today.
@Alan-in-Bama
@Alan-in-Bama 2 жыл бұрын
@@conifergreen2 Here in the South it was mostly Scots-Irish and Germans that first "settled" the Appalachians...after the Indians of course. But the tribes in the South were known to be very friendly to the Europeans that moved into their lands....and vice-versa. "Most" of the White people that first moved into the area were poor and escaping the more populated Eastern coast. Mainly the Cherokee and Creek Indians, but also the Choctaw, Chickasaw & Seminole (a sub-tribe of the Creeks you might say). For the first few decades, they predominantly were all very friendly with new settlers...and regularly traded with each other, lived amongst each other and even inter-married quite a lot. But sadly, our government which has been on a downward slope of corruption and greed (Especially since the Civil War), stabbed these "Civilized Tribes" in the back, fought and forced the Native people to Oklahoma...which the Indian people called the Trail of Tears. The expansion of European people across the country was inevitable....the fighting between two different cultures was understandable, but the way all the Native people were betrayed SO many times was just shameful....to say the least.

IMHO, I think this is one of the best excerpts of Yellowstone. Great acting, great words, great scene. I wonder, if you believe in these things, if this is related to how much luck the Dutton family has had and continue to have. James Dutton’s compassion to these beaten people has allowed karma to continue showering the Duttons with good luck. In other words, how you treat people is how you will be treated. Otherwise, you’ll have a date with karma, whether you want it or not. True, John Dutton has had to fight hard for his family and legacy, but nothing worth having ever comes easy or cheap. Love this show.

I think the luck aspect of the Duttons come from the fact that they were given permission to be on that land. This prequel was the best thing to happen to this series in my eyes. Taylor Sheridan is an absolute genius and hats off to him for telling this story the way it should be !

Seems like James relies heavily on his wife to keep him in check. It also seems like the Duttons attach deeply to family and grieve a lifetime over loss. It’s likely that without Margaret he’d be a much harder man. When John says the family died with his wife he means it, and the problems with their family really stem from her early departure.

Tate being 1/2 Native American, he will share the land with his Native American family. Then no one can take it away, or sell any of it. Just my opinion…

After watching the show, you basically already know once he tells James his plan to bury his father by the tree his mind is already made up. First he asks you want to bury him here? And then he when the native says yes by that tree, James makes a face that says I’ve been there. And then goes over the top and helps them out more. At this point he has a huge respect for natives but also understanding of his situation.
