if you go to 3:42 you can see his hands in the bottom left corner. Notice how his hand pulls upward, causing the pen to fall. This most likely means he was holding a string which caused the pen to turn and then eventually fall.

If I had a room mate which owned a prank KZfaq channel, I still probably would have reacted the same way as that guy to the events, because they're freaking creepy. It depends on what you're like. Some people will be like _hey, my room mate's a prankster so he must be doing this_ and others will be like _this is too real to be fake_ and not even think about the possibilities.
