What a great governor. It proves that people really can work together if the issue isn't politicized. The fact that law enforcement came in on the deal shows that they are tired of dealing with this type of case and would rather be coping with more serious criminals. Hooray for Maryland, lets hope others will follow their lead.

How do you make a substance legal, and still keep people in jail over it? That's just not MORALLY right. And, let's get real. Marijuana has been effectively LEGAL for a certain segment of the population (affluent White users). More states, who have passed recreational marijuana laws, need to do the same.

Likely due to its stigma, a backlash that's unmanageable might just happen, people need to get used to the idea. Some legalizing process on controversial issues take a generation, even a century for touchy social issues. Women's rights, etc.

A couple of weeks ago when President Biden suggested cannabis be removed from Schedule 1, Down to schedule 3 (now that multiple states have legalized it was possibly part of that sound decision ) should have been HUGE news daily, not just here.
