One thing I’ll say that both John and Lisa do is cause an uproar in my spirit. You point to the power of God, the fear of God and I’m not sure if anyone else is affected the same way, but the Holy Spirit just fills me up in your sermons and I thank you for that. My prayers are much bolder and I get so pumped to increase my faith. Lisa’s “Girl with swords” is one of the most moving messages I’ve ever encountered. I thank God for your gifts and sharing your love and messages with us Christians growing in our faith!

Thank you both so much for being open and honest about your real lives. My son and I live with my mother. I only realised how traumatic my childhood really was after moving back home and experiencing the same emotional, pyschological and verbal abuse from my mother all over again and seeing her do it to my son and having my own occassional outbursts towards him as a result. It is a completely dysfunctional and unhealthy situation that is now maifesting in my body as all sorts of mental and physical health challenges. Separation from this environment is not immediately possible. How do I forgive and parent healthily while I am still here?

Thank you kindly for sharing your hearts and the word of God so transparently and with wisdom. The first question related managing full time ministry and family life… you mentioned Doctors can “turn it off”… I am a Registered Nurse and have been in healthcare over 20 years. We have a HARD time turning it off. I could write a literal book. After life unraveled for my family in a mere 24 hours the Holy Spirit wrecked me in this area. At the age of 39, I NOW know the significance and importance of doing this. I have to ask the Holy Spirit for his full strength and guidance and power to do this daily. I can’t imagine the burden the Doctors bare. Especially now. Please keep us all lifted in prayer.

While I don’t disagree, some of us struggle aLOT with parents that are not from the church and constantly try to cause hardship and struggle in others lives. I have a very hard time mentally dealing with trying to be of the church and trying not to be resentful of my family because I have no family that goes to church, none. I come from a family that owned a car and parents that drink and sold drugs and did drugs. Then narcissism to top it off. So I constantly feel like crap no matter what I do

Why would you ask your child if they resented you if you had already determined that they would be adversely judged if they did. It would’ve been ok if they did resent you.
