Firstly the Ergobaby Embrace is nothing like any other of the Ergobaby carriers. It’s important to be aware that it’s more like a structured wrap than a full carrier. So if you’re looking for a full soft structured carrier that allows you to carry multiple positions well into toddlerhood this isn’t that carrier.
The Ergobaby Embrace is designed for newborns and babies. This carrier is designed to carry your baby on your front, facing you. It does have the option of forward facing, however to me I think it’s best designed for inward facing.
However, because it only has one job to do, it does that job really well.

What do I do if my baby seems to be between the two sizes/wearing options? He’s 8 weeks and is too tall for the folding option, but too short for the non-folded.

Hi Isabelle! Great question! Actually I've made a quick video showing what I would suggest for a baby who feels like they're a bit in between the two positions, because I think it's a question other parents would have as well, and it's a bit easier to show than tell. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rKxmaNeImbyuZGg.html Let me know if this helps! - Rachel

Hi Sam, thank you for your question. It's a bit tricky to make a suggestion without seeing how you've got the carrier on. If you'd like you can email pictures of how you have the carrier on with baby and I can recommend what adjustments to make. If you can send through a front on picture, side and back. Or whatever you feel comfortable sending. Send to - mail@parentingcentral.com.au Looking forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Rachel.

Really helpful video, thanks! However, I've tried in both newborn and bigger positioning (and the "in-between" version from your other video) and my daughter, who is 8 weeks, 4.3kg, doesn't have her neck supported at all. The front panel comes up really low in all 3 positions so her head flops around. Do you have any advice on how to better position her? I feel I must be doing something wrong!

I'm not quite sure what's happening there so it's difficult to give specific advice. Feel free to send through pictures to either mail@parentingcentral.com.au Or send a picture to the Parenting Central Facebook page. Ideally a front and side view to get a good idea of what exactly is going on (you can cover faces for privacy) But generally my first thought is maybe baby's bottom isn't "sitting" right down into the "seat" of the carrier. You get them in and settled then (gently) grab their bottom / thighs and wiggle them downwards to get a really deep position (and scooping their knees up at the same time) Next is making sure the shoulder straps nice and tight/firm to pull up the panel up and support baby. The only other thing off the top of my head is that in theory if the waistband is positioned too high then you're losing too much length of the panel scooping down and up under baby's bottom. But I'm hesitant to suggest that without seeing it because 90% of the time I feel like parents have the waist band too low (on all carriers) so I'd discourage lowering it as the first thing you try because if you watch the "in between" demonstration video I show how lowering the waistband lengthens the panel - but you can see in the video why that would be a problem with a small baby. I hope that helps?

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply! It indeed turns out I hadn't wiggled her down far enough 🫣 I managed to pull her bum down further and now the panel covers the back of her head properly 🥰 thanks again for the advice!! Really invaluable for stressy new parents like me ❤

Your doll's head is not floppy like a newborn's head would be and it looks like the top is even with his neck, providing no support at all. While walking, bending, doing housework, do you have to hold his head to keep it from moving all over the place? Thank you, I love your videos.

Hi Denise, thank you for your comment and kind words. I really appreciate it! You are right, my doll isn't floppy like a real baby. Though in this video the doll I'm using isn't weighted so it sort of *floats* up higher into the carrier than a baby really would. In this more recent video I'm using the same dol, but I've weighted it with 2kgs of rice, the doll sits a bit deeper into the Embrace and helps look more realistic and supported. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/js2llJenu7awo4k.html Also if it helps the official Ergobaby Embrace video features a pretty fresh looking newborn kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r793pbulx6ixiH0.html So you should be able to walk, do housework, move around etc with the Embrace. If you're bending forward though I think any age and any carrier it's instinctive to support the back of their head as you bend over. Just in case. I hope that helps! - Rachel

Which one you think is better for a facing the world 20mths baby the embrace or Tula explore?
@ParentingCentral
@ParentingCentral 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Maria, thank you for your question. Few things to unpack in your question! Firstly, I wouldn't recommend buying an Egrobaby Embrace for a 20 month old. I think the Ergobaby Embrace is a wonderful carrier to use from newborn that will typically last up to 12-18months (depending on the size of your child) with a weight limit of 11kgs - so I would say a 20 month old would be already outgrowing the Ergobaby Embrace. Second - I personally wouldn't forward face with a 20 month old. When you turn your child forward facing their weight is thrown forward, and the longer their arms and legs are the more you'll feel that dragging forwards. However if I was going to recommend a carrier specifically for forward facing I would suggest any of the Ergobaby carriers Omni (Omni Breeze/Omni Dream/Omni 360) because these carriers have in my opinion the most ergonomic forward facing position. Otherwise if you have a toddler who's wanting to see the world - back carrying can be a great way to achieve this without the discomfort of having them facing forward. Check out this video where I show how to back carry. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l9l_ZdZm1rHXoZs.html I hope that helps at all. Please let me know if you have any other questions or any other features you're looking for in a carrier and I'll see what else I can recommend! - Rachel

@@ParentingCentral thx Rachel for so detailed advise, I’m not planning to always carry him was just for 3 weeks when we go away in Romania on a boat on Danube river and visiting the surrounding mountains where a buggy is not accessible. And my baby will want to see what’s happening. So I was looking for something quick wearing (not to many straps buttons etc) light as is gonna be very hot , and face forward
@ParentingCentral
@ParentingCentral 2 жыл бұрын
If you're absolute set on forward facing I would definitely recommend either an Ergobaby Omni Breeze or Ergobaby Omni 360 Cool Mesh. Or even if you're looking at 2nd hand market the Ergobaby 360 Cool Mesh is a great option as well if you don't need it for a newborn in the future. Also below are a couple of Ergobaby instruction videos showing some important steps to get the most comfortable fit possible - which will be especially important forward facing with a bigger baby Adjust shoulder straps - they show good detailed on this video from 1:58 to 2:15 - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rc6pqNCorr-2c5c.html And then a pelvic tilt/scoop under baby's bum in this video from 1:43 to 1:52 - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7iGiade2Mu2eac.html They show the pelvic tilt trick very quickly in both videos but it makes a HUGE difference to the weight distribution. I need to make a video showing this in more detail! I can try to put one together this weekend (or next weekend I have a couple of other videos on my list) - I'll drop the link here when it's up. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Do I have to fold it twice the waist part when first putting it on ? My son is 4 months he doesn't like to face is. He likes to face forward
@ParentingCentral
@ParentingCentral 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Miquel, thank you for your question. When you're first wearing the carrier with a newborn you will need to fold the waist band in twice, however I would imagine at 4 months you wouldn't be folding it over anymore. So use the method for older babies in the video from 6:30 onward - where you just put the waist band on like an apron and then lift the panel up. For forward facing you won't have the panel folded over, you would definitely be putting it on using the method for older babies - putting the panel on like an apron and lifting the panel up. It's not recommended to start forward facing until baby is approximately 5-6 months, as they need to have good core strength and head/neck control. Also if you put baby in the Embrace forward facing and their chin isn't over the top of panel to easily look out, then they're too little. Maybe wait a 2-4 weeks and try again. If you're not sure, please feel free to email me directly at mail@parentingcentral.com.au - if you send through a photo of baby in the Ergobaby Embrace I'm happy to have a look at let you know if it looks like baby is correctly positioned. Otherwise please let me know if you have any more questions. Kind regards, Rachel

What do we do if the baby is semi covered by top panel?
@ParentingCentral
@ParentingCentral 4 ай бұрын
If the panel is covering too much of Baby's head you can try positioning the waistband higher on your body so the panel scoops down a bit to take some of the length. I show this method with the Ergobaby Embrace when baby is transitioning from the newborn position to the full panel if that helps make sense of what I mean. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rKxmaNeImbyuZGg.htmlsi=bouvhv2FDqHgmXbz Let me know if you need any more help with it. - Rachel
