I hated when my parents planned a surprise trip to Great Wolf Lodge TWICE and forgot to pack my magic wand one time and told me we were going somewhere else where I didn't need my iPad.

When i was in elementary school my mother told me and my sister we were going to the dentist, she got us out of school and said were going to Disney world. My sister started crying and screaming “i want to go to the dentist”. It was hallrious.

When this happened to my brother and I, we started crying because we thought it was a mean joke. I didn't believe it but I kept screaming "SHOW ME THE TICKETS!!!" They showed me the tickets, and I was happy. Ah, the life of an 8-year old

I'd honestly have the same reaction as them. Not that I'm unhappy were going on a trip, but more that the fact that my parents just sprung it on me. I can't imagine if my parents told me " We're going to visit your cousins in your hometown ", and I would get so hyped up over getting to see my cousins that I normally only see like twice a year, and I would pack all the things I would and get stuff I would want to show them. Then after like an hour into the car, they suddenly say " Surprise !! We're not going to see your cousins in your hometown !! In fact, we're taking the plane to go to Disneyland " I would be devastated and disappointed because I didn't pack the right things for Disneyland and that I wouldn't get to see my cousins. My parents actually did this once to me but it was to Legoland, I was supposed to attend some school event that I was excited for and midway to my school my parents suddenly told me we were going to Legoland. I was so confused but I had fun tho.

HAHAHAH my siblings and I did the same exact thing when we were younger, and I feel kinda bad (we did have a great time though). To be fair, my parents said that we would never go to Disney World like a few days before we left, and it was 3am when they told us. I also thought it was a prank, and I was excited to go to my grandparents house.

I'd probably have a similar reaction because I don't like being surprised. Also, two out of the three seemed too old to really care about a surprise Disney trip. I mean yeah it's fun when you get there, but pre-teens aren't known for showing much excitement over stuff.

Honestly, i dont think you have to win a parent card by taking your kid to disney. Ive never been cuz we were too poor. And ive never been so what. My birth parents left me and my twin and my younger sister behind, me and my twin when we were just born and my grandparents adopted her a year or so later when she was born and i got foster parents who eventually became to be known as my mom and dad. I think by just being my parent and feeding me and taking care of me and because i was a very sick baby, i think they won the token the minute they stepped into my life. And the doctors said i might not even live. I am almost twenty years old. yeah i still live with the effects of why i was sick and i have to go to so many doctors appointments and i get sick alot, but they took care of me until i was able to take care of myself. im living on my own. They also said i wouldnt walk, run, jump, or even hop. And i was one of the fastest girls on my track team in middle school. So like i said. I dont need vacations to win the parent card. i have so much to thank them for already.

OMG, I'd heard people talk about how kids act very entitled, but seeing this just proves it. As a kid, and many kids today, I would've died to go to Disney! My parents never took us, and Disneyland was only a 7 hour drive away. Lame. We were well off. They were into being frugal, born during the Depression, to be fair. They never got over being poor & starving as children. Nothing like going your first time as an adult, though, and feeling silly. I still had fun. Disney World is on my bucket list.
