I won a RTT last Saturday with my themed Catachans. Prep for the Tacoma Open this coming weekend. I like Pariah, scoring is definitely a lot harder and I built my list with lots of scoring units in it. My DreadNork Straken combo did serious work. Ogryns rocked. Gaunts Ghosts are perfect for a lot of the secondaries. I faced GSC round 1, Wolf Jail round 2, and Belakor monster mash round 3.

Honestly had fun with pariah nexus so far!

These are definitely Hot takes, Its gonna be an interesting season, I'm interested in you guys coming back to this video in 3 months and do a voice over reaction or something with your new thoughts. The mission rules you guys end up with always go forgotten because they are forgettable or have nothing to do with the army. For ex. in this one: cover in the first round... against Super Cagey Simon playing super teleporty shennanigans Knights. I think y'all would have fun with the one where battleline get free grenades/Go to Ground, or the one where Battleline get actions in combat or actions while shooting. Pair that with an acition heavy primary and that'll shake things up. Enjoyed the banter and thoughts lads. Ps. Thats crazy how you mentioned the new potential meta for Guard Army comp, I'm a sucker for chicken walkers and tanks, but my new army is mostly mech, chicken walkers, 1 manticore 1 basilisk! (I'd never thought I'd take indirect but hey just a "seasoning") and interestingly: 1 mega blob of infantry, I'm more of a Norkken Blob myself (regimental attiche spice for sustained hits and anti deepstrike) P.P.S. Reinforcements needed to change, the change is extremely balanced crunch wise and was a extremely simple and easy. Could they put in more effort for game design: of course. But this was the blanket band-aid patch. Fluff wise, immersion breaking wise... overcharging plasma, commissars blapping last survivors, desperate breakout attempts on purpose, troops needing to die to call in reinforcements. It was already immersion breaking to an extent. Where they went overboard I do agree with you is the damn "Unending Swarm" They should've put some effort into that one. Something like gsc had at one point?? If a battline unit dies roll a d6 on a 4+ they are recycled. The chance representing the logistics of the reinforcements getting to the battle maybe? And then strategems/characters/abilities that synergies or make that 4+ a 3+ or 2+ at certain points. Would also work for all infantry Guard regiment.

It occurs to me that part of this may be that Grey Knights are a broken faction. Not as in they are too powerful, but that they don't really work. They have only a few units that are really equipped to take out vehicles, and the rest of their power comes from being able to teleport terminators and interceptors etc to score objectives. Fundimentally, the way that Simon seems to want to play his Grey Knights is not supported by the rules.

Only had the one game so far. We played at Warhammer World. I really liked it. Though I'm not really qualified for comparing as I'm a casual player and only a few games under my belt.

What do you think about an escalating cost for reinforcements? Maybe 2 cp for first with a Vox-like 4 or 5+ roll to reduce it to 1 cp, second is 3cp with a chance to go down to 2cp, 3rd is 3 flat or maybe only costs 2 on 6+...thoughts? Depends in the list and likelihood of multiple reinforcement uses...

I have played Pariah Nexus as Guard! I'd give it the same conclusion, more interesting. I am ditching my commissar for a 5 man scion squad, with Gaunt's I hope to have some powerful access to the secondaries around the board.
