ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

Hi Vivienne , This is the best video yet. Isabella has great taste and style. I love the story of the pink pillow, I shop and Scott doesn't notice a thing, he just loves the way I put it all together. He does have great taste but no imagination, where I can picture it all in my mind. I'll have to go back and watch this again, so much great territory to cover and explore. Thank you, Mark & Scott

Vivienne, one of my current favorite coffee table books is a signed copy of Liberace's autobiography. No other book I've owned has spawned more conversations. Honey, he was a big ol' mess. The chapter dealing with 'losing his innocence' has certainly been a popular starting point, but they're all golden. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, this book's potential is innumerable. ❤ from TX!

If this is Heaven, forget it, I am staying here! The most recent Château Timothy purchased was on Quintessence a few years ago, I almost had a nervous breakdown. Before the Chateau was even furnished, Suzanna Salk videotaped the tour on her channel “Quintessence”. I played that video over & over ❤️🇫🇷❤️. I am so proud to admit every door handle in my home has a French silk tassel hanging from it. Off to the kitchen to grab a bottle of Champagne, I am sure it is cocktail hour sone where in our World right now🤩. Timothy Corrigan’s apartment, in particular the beautiful silk drapes or curtains, were sumptuous in a quiet way that I found was what I love. In the past decade or so in America there has existed a trend of removing all curtains to allow the design of windows and the light from outside to shine. For personal reasons I have embraced that trend. Those particular curtains could convince me otherwise.

That was stupendous. Thanks for all the insights. The patterns on the outside of your chateau facade could, I'm sure be recreated into trims for serviettes / bedding etc. In all sorts of different colour schemes.

I have commented on several Chateau channels, to have a look at Timothy Corrigans designs for inspiration, because I feel like many get completely overwhelmed by the task of decorating a Chateau. And so they go for either a very basic, modern design, or they try for maximalism - but struggle to really reach the goal. Timothy really has an eye for designing these grand rooms in a way, so the grandeur is retained, but they still feel cozy and homely!

I WISH he would make more videos for KZfaq, because I would love to follow the restoration of Chateau de Chevallerie! I saw the video Quintessence made with him there - and just every little detail of that place is beautiful - even before, he began restoring... But, in reality, I would feel much more at home in a Chateau, like yours. Just the right size 😁
