This is the Park Fuzz Sound, a classic Germanium fuzz pedal born of a collaboration between Akron, Ohio's Earthquaker Devices and the recently resurrected Park Amplification company. Park, originally founded by the late, legendary Jim Marshall, was primarily known for its amps, which were slight variations of Marshall circuits, but the company also built a line of pedals, including the Park Fuzz Sound. The Fuzz Sound was originally constructed with unlabeled transistors, making reverse engineering difficult up to this point, but because Earthquaker was able to collaborate so closely with Park Amplification, examining a number of original units, they were able to hand-select and test NOS germanium transistors until the perfect match was found. This has resulted in a new Park Fuzz Sound that is striking in its sonic resemblance to the original, yet updated with a number of features for the modern guitarist, including an expanded gain range, true bypass switching, and industry standard 9-volt, center-negative operation for easy integration into any pedalboard. Like all of Earthquaker's excellent devices, the Park Fuzz Sound is made by hand, one-at-a-time, in Akron, Ohio, USA.

Cool lick about 15 secs from end! Too groovy! Sounds very like early Pagey at points, like "hurry gurdy man" if Fuzz were dimmed! Someone says a lot of fuzz pedals do more for less: perhaps, but it has a wiiide range of fuzz that nails several '60s sounds. Great job - as usual - Andy!

shame some in the comments had issues. mine sounds like the demo. no issues. you have to play it hard...With a low input signal it doesn't really work. It caught me off guard and I had to alter how I played.

Weren’t the original park sound fuzz pedals made by the same builders of the tone bender who sold their pedals to be branded by other company’s and guitar stores? Im pretty sure tone benders and park fuzz’s were made with the same parts, so are the reissues the same and basically a vintage tone bender? Either way it sounds killer and looks cool.
@stompingstones
@stompingstones 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Park is a MkIII Tone Bender, made for them by Sola Sound. They were OEM and sold to several other brands for their own products (Park, Rotosound, Vox, etc). This goes for several other and early bender variations as well.

+Diogo Alexandre Solo of of the song "Unglued" by STP. Never learned the solo part, was surprised it was played that way, but he totally nailed it! +mirrortoomany STP was my fav band growing up, always thought Dean's playing was very underrated...Though, I think Robert DeLeo was the mastermind...It was Robert who wrote most(not all) of the STP music(not lyrics tho)

Will it take other voltages, like 12v or 18v in order to give it more presence like other pedals of this class?
@LoCoGuitars
@LoCoGuitars 9 жыл бұрын
Usualy opamp based circuits alow you to do that. This one is transistor based, and have a charge pump voltage inverter wich feeds the transistors with -9V power. I would say no, and even if you the chip alows you to give the pedal more than 9V, the circuit itself will run with the forementioned -9V.

It's a Tone Bender Mk.3. Big Muff is a very different circuit. The only two fuzzes I like are Big Muff and Tone Bender Mk.3, and I use them for different sounds. Tone Bender will clean up better than a Muff with your guitar's volume knob, as long as it is first in your signal chain.
