Oliver Reed is now best remembered for the chat show appearances where he turned up apparently 18 sheets to the wind and made an arse of himself. It was not always so. When sober, he was a dream guest. Lucid, interesting, thoughtful, funny and a fund of superb anecdotes. Here he is in 1973, with Parky, Dame Isobel Barnett, and Mickey & Sherri Spillane. Remember him THIS way.

Oliver Reed was a great actor, served his Country with National Service and a decent man. Although he liked a drink or two if he saw a person that needed help crossing the road he would help. Yes he was out spoken at times but that was part of his appeal.. R.I.P.

He had the courage to speak the truth about liberal feminism and also the radicalized progressive left. He also spoke out against radical islam in a time few people were aware of it. He also pointed out the hypocrisy of the liberal feminist left....how they labeled HIM as chauvinistic and hating women but they supported a belief systen that stoned rape victims implemented honor killings FGM. He was a sarcastic asshole but also very brave in that he had the spine to speak the truth about the real motive of women like gloria steinam and the double standard of the progressive left in general. It became a death sentence for his career. His chauvinistic comments about women was for the benefit of liberal feminists. He did it to piss them off. WHY....THEY WERE STILL ARE ...DICTIONARY STUUUUPPPIDDD. Oliver reed married a woman whose IQ was 172. His was 168. She finished middle AND high school at 13. Went onto college completed it at 15...magna cum laud. Went onto graduate studies was out by 20 at the TOP OF HER CLASS. Do you think a true chauvinist would marry her? Everything these feminists wanted to be his wife WAS. After mocking them to show how stupid they sounded he pointed his wife out to them....could THEY do HALF of what SHE DID? THAT was when he zapped them about their almost total blackout on radical islam and how it denied women even basic health care. I wish i could find that video clip again. I suspect Mark Zuckerburgs youtube minions removed it. Lololol..of COURSE what he told these mentally retarded c**** left them FUMING. He told them the TRUTH. The TRUTH has a way of doing that.

So nicely written in the description! I'm so fascinated with this man! He seems like a lovely bloke! So sharp, smart, witty and happy! He had this reputation of being an arse. Him wanting to control women, blah blah. Yes, I get that he wasn't an easy man to be around at times. It was his way or the highway. He had quite high thoughts about himself at times. He was dominant and probably a know it all. It's not easy to be around people with a severe addiction. But I also believe that he was soft. That he liked people and was genuinely interested in their stories. He cared and was respectful. A very complex man! Maybe I'll met someone like him if I start to hang out in bars ;-)

I have a wonderful idea for a script but have no idea of how to even begin writing and how to make it a reality? I honestly think it could be great but have no idea where to begin. All the characters and scenes are already in my mind, as it is semi-autobiographical but I need some help as to to where I should start? I would love to use actors that no-one has heard of!! I realise this is a huge long-shot but who knows eh??Is there anyone out there with any experience willing to give a total novice a chance???
@StevieHypno
@StevieHypno 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, a massive long shot. As part of my degree, I did a screenwriting course. This gave me insight into writing, guys who write stuff I watch on TV talking to me directly about their experiences, and a structured (and crucially pressured) route to my own screenplay. I learned I absolutely loved writing the treatment, the initial synopsis, and used the picture in my head to then go on and write some of the script with loads of enthusiasm. Then the ADD kicked in, and I lost interest, or at least the ability to complete a project in which I'd explored all of the novelty. You might be different. Find a course, use the structure, and find out.

I adored Parky. I was beside myself when I realised that a book about the history of westerns in the cinema had been written by him. Oliver Reed? Good fun to watch, both in film and out. His interviews were nigh on iconic. Two winners here chaps.

Just superb, Ollie, and, as the uploader says, he was a chat show dream guest for many years before things went wrong. The scar is from a knifing incident in the gents in a London pub toilets at the early stages of his career. Luckily, his acting talents were not lost to us due to this.

Oliver Reed’s essential part in the rock opera “Tommy” alone places him firmly among an elite group of experimental, classical English actors of his time, cue the obvious, who are stunningly adept at accessing the ocean of spirit that comes from drinking an ocean of spirits and being willing to put himself out there with zero concern of how the meek, albeit ubiquitous, writings of the critics will effect his dedication to the muse of the moment. If nothing else, his friendship with Keith Moon singles him out as a force of brilliance, and a man who was a great liver. I am fascinated by his works and have been seeking them out long before Bill Hader was born. Love him too.

Reading the comments its easy to see how ignorant most people are, to the fact that a lot of the time Oliver Reed was not really drunk but merely acting drunk, on some chat shows. He, and others close to him, have admitted this fact more than once. Oliver said on numerous occasions that it was what people expected of him, so at times he gave it to them without actually being under the influence. Of course at other times he really was drunk, but so what, he was as real as they come. Sadly missed and criminally underrated.

Ollie is brilliant in many films. The Devils is a tour de force. He was a sweet guy who got wild at times but he was a beautiful guy the likes we don't have today. All men are mad and sweet. Women too. Life is odd I don't claim to grok it. It's a fun place at times!
