Parks Canada Shuttle to Moraine Lake

As of 2023, personal vehicle access to Moraine Lake is no longer permitted. The best way to access Moraine Lake is via the Parks Canada shuttle service. Reserve your shuttle ticket and park your vehicle at the Park and Ride, located at the Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola. One ticket gives you the flexibility to see both Moraine Lake and Lake Louise in the same day or spend the day exploring one lake - the choice is yours!
Your ticket allows for an Interlake transfer, so be aware that you can board a bus to Lake Louise or to Moraine Lake. The transit pass is an excellent means to see both lakes for a single ticket if you are short on time.

We boarded at Lake Louise park and ride and went to Moraine Lake. After we went to Lake Louise and after we returned to the park and ride

If at all you can afford it, make a reservation for 2 nights at Moraine Lake Lodge. You will never regret it. Reservations must be done as early as possible. The dining room is great, and you have the lake all to yourself for two nights, and 48 hours at any hour of the day. I used my time for doing a 2 hour star trails timelapse video, as well as a timelapse of the sunrise from the beach. We actually did return after a trip up to Jasper, and then, using Canmore as our base, drove to the Lake Louise park and ride/ski lodge with reservations made long in advance, and we did thevLake Louise bus crap. What a Total PIA that was!

Hi, thanks for watching. Best to go to the Parks Canada website. Navigate to “day use” then choose bus tickets. Closed for winter now, I think but keep checking back for when the next season opens. reservation.pc.gc.ca

Thank you so much! Now when you buy the bus pass online you still have to pick up a voucher somehwere is that correct? Also can you board any the bus at any time slot once youre ready for the next lake?

@J19901 you are correct that despite buying the pass online, you will still have to pick up the voucher before boarding. Once you have a voucher, it is good to hop on and off through the day.

Thanks for the video. We are staying in the park within walking distance to the lake connector shuttle. Do you know if we would have to drive back out to the park and ride lot, or could we just make use of the connector shuttle?

Hi, thanks for watching! I believe you will need to get your ticket from the station at the park and ride. Once you have the ticket, it becomes a “hop and ride” bus from any stop. Parks Canada requires you to validate with photo ID prior to issuing the ticket. I’m pretty sure this can not be done by the bus driver.

Thank you for this, I have booked two afternoon bus trips to lake moraine. I have a question, I understand you can stay pretty much as long as you like but what if I decide to get the last bus back and everyone else has the same idea and there's no room?

Each bus has a queue to get on. As long as you don’t wait to the last minute, you should be safe.

Do you need to pay for parking at the park in ride? My understanding is that I buy voucher online and exchange voucher for a pass at the little hut. And of course have my park pass.

Great video! We are planning a day trip to Moraine lake from Calgary but all the time slots for shuttle to Moraine lake are fully booked so we are thinking booking the Lake Louise shuttle first and then take the Interlake shuttle from Lake Louise to Moraine Lake as that's included in the ticket. Will there be a lot of people lining up for the connecter shuttle from Lake Louise to Moraine Lake? How much buffer time should we allow us for waiting in line? Thank you!

@jizhaoli2282 it could depend on the weather and possibly the date (busier on weekends and holidays) how long the lineup for the inter lake bus will be. It’s a great idea. I’m thinking arrive 15 minutes early and check the line. Then you have the option to join or to spend a few minutes doing something else.

Do we need to carry Parks Canada pass while boarding this bus? Also, if you are at either lake and want to go the other one, do you have to again come back to the Park n Ride?

You will need to exchange your voucher for a pass and keep the pass when boarding each bus. There is a bus at each lake going directly to the other lake. Have fun!

Hi, does the Park n Ride @ 1 Whitehorn fill up by a certain time? Our reservation is at 9am later this week, was wondering how early we need to get there to find parking.

We also had the 9am. Lots of parking but expect to walk quite a bit as the closer lot will be full. I don’t expect you’ll have a problem.

There are separate buses from the park and ride. Board the bus for the lake you want to see first. From there the bus just keeps moving from lake to lake to park and ride.

You can try booking in advance on the parks Canada reservations website. Little known fact is that Parks Canada reserves 40 % of the seats to sell the day of the trip so if you go to the park and ride and are prepared to wait, you should always be able to get a ticket.

Both lakes are always very crowded, however visitors can still drive to Lake Louise. My preference if you can do only one, head to Moraine Lake!

From Banff, you can take Roam transit. No need for the Parks Canada shuttle.
