Just a short video comparing the discharge capacity of the new Parkside Performance PAPS 204 A1 battery and the legacy PAP 20 B3. The smart battery is set to "Balance" mode - 2.8V low discharge limit and 40A current limit.

There's to variables to take into account. From what I read, the old battery ran at full power all the time. In the new one you can limit the voltage at which it shuts it down and the maximum current limit. To match what the old's battery settings you have to set the lowest voltage at 2.5V and the current at 50A. Also, the new battery can deliver more sustained power (in theory), so maybe the leaf blower is taking more power from it than from the old model because of that. For this test to be more accurate you should use two identical batteries not one of each kind. Or use a different tool that uses a single battery and run the test twice. There's something I'm curious about. I have the same leaf blower and at turbo mode it drains batteries like crazy. To the point that batteries can't sustain the turbo mode for more than 10 or 15 seconds. I'd love to know if the claim that this new batteries can sustain higher current for longer is true.

I have been reading about the differenc ein these batteries and the old one I think has 10 18650 batteries, het new one 5 21700 batteries. Other reviews seem to say the same the new 4 ah "smart" batterij is less strong and last less long. Ther 8 ah new battery has 10 21700 cells and this does rock and makes some machines even stronger as it can give more power. In general 21700 batteries can give more power and 10 21700 will outperform 10 18650 batteries is capacity and current but 5 21700 seems to be less power than 10 18650 batteries. so it looks like the new 4ah smart battery is somewhere between the old 4ah en 2ah batteries.

@@printingcarpets It does sound reasonable that even if 21700 are better cells, they are not good enough to beat twice as many 18650 cells. However, that's only true if cells are of the same quality. Some cheapest 18650 cells could hold only 2000mAh, and some of the best 21700 can hold up to 5000mha. Also, even if capacity is similar or worse perhaps the maximum discharge current is different (either better or worse) and non-linear with capacity. That's why I'm curious about testing the turbo mode of that leafblower, because at turbo the old 4ah batteries could only supply enough current for a few seconds. A drill with more instant power could drive a big bolt into wood that maybe the same drill with a different battery with less discharge power can't screw, even if the latter can insert more "easy" bolts with a single charge. BMS setting also plays a role in that. Other analysis seem to suggest that this battery is more of a 3.5ah batter and the 8ah is actually a 7ah in practice.

@@MiguelCamba 18650 has max capacity of 3400/3500 mah, 21700 have max capacity around 5000 mah so around 43% more capacity. you are correct that it also comes down to the max Amp the battery can supply. The new 4ah can what I read supply max 50Ah but the 8Ah with 10 21700 batteries can supply 100 AH, double and logical double the amount of batteries. Apply same logic to 4 ah old version that has 10 18650 cells. A 18650 cell could supply say 35 Ah but take the doulbe and you have 70 Ah which is more than the 50 ah of the new 21700. Other tests I see seem to confirm the. The new 4Ah samrt is between the old 4 Ah en 2 Ah. Also as you state the actual capacity doesn't seem to be 8 or 4 Ah

less cells is higher internal resistance, so more power goes into heat battery (lost). New battery is charging not to 100% (on 4,5A charger, only to 92-94%) so there is little less capacity.

There is no variables when the machine draws stable current with stable voltage trough stable resistance at stable RPMs. If you put each battery on different machine and RPM one of the machines with 4000 rpm and the other one with 6000 rpm then you will have variables and if the battery is capable of delivering the power for 6000 rpm you will have your 6000 rpm at the cost of less operating time.

The old battery is better. It can be a little better after a few cycles, but not much. Another KZfaqr from Slovenia comes to the same conclusion. The new battery has a capacity of 3100 mah and can also deliver less amps. The old 4ah Battery was measured at over 3900mah.

Difference is also old 4 ah has 10 18650 batteries vs 5 21700 for the new 4 ah battery. another review also showed you have to use the new smart charger to fully load the new batteries, the charger in this video only seems to be able to load them up to 90%.

Its not better , ita made for a doferent task , you guys look at the duration to be the end qll be all, but the old battery delivers 35 a and the new one 50 so ....

This test is completely irrelevant. The second pack uses a different cell with a different chemistry and it has a lower internal resistance. Therefore will deliver more energy in less time. If you want to do a proper test wire them separately and measure the total energy used

50a max discharge vs 35a max discharge , the cells inside the battery are made for delivering high amperages for a deacent time , not lower amperages over a longer time . They have their use

correct 50ah max for 21700 cells and 8 Ah versin has 100ah discharge, logical as this is double the amount of 21700 cells. 35a could be max discharge of a 18650 cell b ut the 4 Ah old version has 2x5 18650 cells. So you are looking at 70 Ah max discharge. The @ah version will have 45Ah discharge

Sounds legit, but when you market someting as 4Ah you expect that battery pack to be able to deliver 4A continuosly during 1 hour. Same as when you buy 125 hp vehicle you expect that to deliver 125 hp and most of the times you don't care if that's 4 cylinders inline, V6 or boxer. So both batteries are marketed as 4Ah and one of them isn't performing quite as the other. And that's the performance model...What more to say

@@icku dewalt dose the same , so dose milw and others , they have battery pack for higher amperages , and for higher run times . 3ah outperforms the 4ah pack in power but comparing run times it is more like a 2.5ah pack.... thats why ah should not the only thing they market....

@@printingcarpets no, still 50a, you can get either voltage ,or capacity , you cant make batteries put out more amps , only if the motor is draining too mucj and the voltage drops , electricity is a funny thing . The 8ah is a beast tho as there is no voltage drop at all across it (almost) The only way to make a battery pack put out more amps is to use different cells that put out more power , only better 18650 cells were 40a ,but expensive af so i didnt want to upgrade . This is the upgrade this tools need powerwise. Some were capped by the 35a max of the old batteries ,which is aparant when you see them in action with the new 8ah one

@@icku the battery has a claimed capacity of 4A but that said it can discharge at 30/35 or 60/70 A. The higher discharge will give you more power. At 20 volt 4A= 80 Watt power. But at 70A 20 volt you have 1400 watt of power. In some power tolls you might need this extra power for big screws.

@@icku it doesn't matter a new battery will never have full capacity strait from the factory Do the test again after at least 5 cycles and it's gonna be the other way around

I don't understand why lidl home is so crap of an app. 6 new generations of batteries none of them connects to the phone. The app can't see any battery. So frustrating.

Bluetooth модула има нищожна консумация. Трябва 10-на такива да се навържат, че батерията да ги усети.

completely irrelevant in this test. there is no load , there for, no high amperage is used. the old 4ah battery can deliver 70a but the new only 50. Thus, according to you, the old should have been drained quicker.

the test is irrelevant, the tool uses the 40V system so the discharge current is the same, you must use two batteries with identical characteristics and identical internal resistances.

Are you hearing what you are typing Lol? It is used in the same engine at the same time with the same RPM as the other battery IT IS NOT delivering more power, they discharge same amount of power and the power discharged is drawed by the same engine of the same tool. In this case discharging enerdy is exactly the same for both batteries. Also the smart performance battery is seto to blanaced mode stated in the clip meaning there are limits set. The problem is elsewhere and it is not in the discharging "mechanism". The problem is in either bluetooth function or that the smart battery is just on 1 cycle, or both.

@@elenakana5931 I will try to explain it slow for you. The noise you hear in the clip coming from that green thing in the center of the screen is BECAUSE of LOAD and yes there is a load. The amperage used is exactly the same as the machine need to operate at this constant RPM and the test is RELEVANT to measure capacity of batteries which give constant current and constant voltage trough constant resistance at the same time.
