Lyrics
I feel a glitch in the cortex
Like a ghost in the shell
Caught the devil playing mind tricks
I feel the dread close in like the walls of a cell
I cannot sleep
I cannot hide
I cannot take
One more night on the dark side of my mind
I close my eyes to sleep, the shadows speak
And they won’t stop when I’m awake
Everything they say would seem
Feeds the fear inside of me
Let it feed the fear inside
Help me take this pain away
Sleep is now my enemy
Now it feeds the fear inside of me
The fear inside of me
The fear hit like a shell shock
Body froze like my heart stopped
REM waves got my limbs locked down
but my eyes wide open
Sheer terror manifest before me
I cannot sleep
I cannot hide
I cannot take
Living this way on the dark side of my mind
I close my eyes to sleep, the shadows speak
And they won’t stop when I’m awake
Everything they say would seem
Feeds the fear inside of me
Let it feed the fear inside
Help me take this pain away
Sleep is now my enemy
Now it feeds the fear inside of me
Sleep paralysis
Let me out, let me out
Let me out, let me out, let me out, let me out
Let me out, let me out, let me out
Let me the fuck out
Everything they say would seem
Feeds the fear inside of me
Let it feed the fear inside
Help me take this pain away
Sleep is now my enemy
Now it feeds the fear inside of me
It’s the fear inside of me
I cannot sleep
I cannot hide
I cannot take
One more night on the dark side of my mind.

Sleek and impeccable video. Love the new album. Discovered PWD back around 2008 when I was in the throes of deep mental distress and self destruction -- their music helped me escape the chaos of my mind. I still suffer from bouts of anxiety and depression and listening to Darker Still brings me so much solace and peace. Can't wait to see them live soon !! Agreed, it's almost like they're creating songs like this one to suit the big metal festivals, which I can definitely get down with. Obviously, they're past the metal core phase which I knew from the very outset after they made IRE. Can you imagine if they played nothing but metal core songs at Wacken or Bloodstock? HAHA Songs like these are basically allowing them to tap into the minds of classic heavy metal listeners (even if those type of fans don't like this sound, it's still taking influences from the classic metal bands which may or may not give PWD some respect when they play at these sort of venues IMO). Aside from that, the only hesitation I have is if they make songs like Devil's Calling or Prey, which I'm not a fan of. A little bit too mainstream for me. PWD are obviously entitled to make what they want cause it's their music but I feel like they harbour so much creativity as musicians. They shouldn't stick to a theme that suits an audience per se, but they should definitely maintain that newer sound of "heaviness" (Absolute Power, Dedicated, Destroyer) that we've (or at least, I have) loved from them whilst continuing to challenge themselves. Even if it's with different time signatures or using acoustic guitars for certain sections of their songs to give more texture-like the intro to their track 'A Deathless Song' for example.. They should put their Dream Theater hats on and try something out of the box. Just my two cents but it's should be an interesting album.
@Red1676
@Red1676 2 жыл бұрын
It's not that he really has a choice. Listen to any older live shows pre IRE where they had their metalcore golden days, you can really hear his vocals were getting strained every tour. He's got good fry vocals on album, but his age is catching up to him. Plus now they got families to feed, so better to go for the safer option. I'm not a fan of the song, respect people who do, just know better to explain what I've picked up as grew up with this band so newer fans can appreciate why the difference in vocals with this newer song.

I've been in love with this song since I heard it. I just read the lyrics, and was hit with emotions. I'm almost a 3 yr multiple stroke survivor and this song perfectly sums up what my life was like that first year, incapable of movement, the fight between your mind and body, the mind tricks, the shadows, the nightmares, the fear, all in a song. Thank you.💙

I honestly think this song speaks to me. I've been having horrible insomnia because everytime I go to sleep I wake up panicking for no reason. It's dumb that I'm grown and just developed an irrational fear of sleep. I thought my mind raced before when I tried to sleep, but now it's a whole new level like it's feeding my fear. I'm in love with these lyrics. I think it's my new bedtime story. Lmfao can't wait for the album to here the new heavy they always bring.

Comeback to surfing and "Horizons, Deep Blue and Atlas" stuff please. "Glitch" sounds like grandpas mixing first Eminem songs + n'Sync + three days grace songs. Breakdown and solo worst solo in whole Parkway Drive career, but still much better than "Reverence album"

@rorz999 2 жыл бұрын
@@redriddler1231 Butt Rock is a pejorative term for hard rock / metal that is written to appeal to the mainstream so that a band can do arena tours and big festivals. Typically bands will dumb down their sound and add big singalong choruses when they go the butt rock direction. It's stuff like this, Five Finger Death Punch, Bad Wolves and so on. I've got nothing against more mainstream music if it's truly what the artists want to make, but I think in most cases it is a cynical career move to get 'bigger' at the expense of alienating their core fan base
