#ParmigianiFleurier #Parmigiani #TimeIsFlying ‪@ParmigianiFleurier‬
This is the second of four 4K-videos of a tour d'horizon at Parmigiani Fleurier showing you "Les Artisans Boîtiers" (www.labsa.ch) where the Parmigiani cases are made and "Quadrance & Habillage" (www.quadrance.ch) where the Parmigiani dials are made. We hope you already watched the first video and enjoyed it. Interesting: initially we planed "only" three videos, but after visiting all the manufacturing sites of Parmigiani last week we know this won't be enough. Good for you guys, you will be more than amazed! Parmigiani is a brand that is completely under the radar, totally underestimated and only known to connoisseurs. A watch from Parmigiani Fleurier does not show off! A Parmigiani Fleurier is unagitated, decent luxury. Its owner is aware of what's behind, it is him who tells the story...
Parmigiani Fleurier's new CEO is Guido Terreni is so passionate. Of course we all know him... Guido was in charge of the Bvlgari watch department before. You will find several videos on our channel showing him in this role. Now at Parmigiani Fleurier Guido wants to push the limits and has a clear vision for the brands future.
That's what Guido told me before we started taping these videos: "Alexander, we aspire to appeal to the purists of tomorrow seeking for a personal hedonistic pleasure. A cultural elite, savvy in watchmaking who appreciate heritage, superior craft and has a strong sense of style and refinement. We want to create a contemporary 'minimal-rich' style, defined by pure & simple design choices, that can be crafted only by mastering the highest skills in watchmaking. We want to push technical innovation, with the ambition to achieve 'world premiere' titles in the future."
As mentioned above this is the second video of four... don't miss the other ones ... we filmed at Parmigiani Fleurier and discovered what's behind ... we can't wait showing all the videos ...

One of the best videos about the creation of Haute Horlogerie time pieces on KZfaq. Have already watched it 3 times now. Guido is such a nice and passionate host. Could listen to him all day. And the integrated manufacturing process is amazing. Kudos to PF and WA for showing these skills to the public. More of this please! I actually tried on a Tonda today (rose gold skeleton) and was amazed by the elegance of the watch, the thinness, and especially how comfortably it wore on the wrist. I put my name down for the steel version and hope I will get it in a not too distant future.

@@WatchAdvisor I already checked the watch out last week but unfortunately I forgot to take some photos. I love that this watch stands on it's own legs and doesn't seem like a "borrowed" design. It wraps perfectly around my wrist and works extremely well ergonomically. It's really something simple (at first glance) and unique that you'll probably not see on a lot of peoples wrists. Also the movement looks stunning. Another watch that sparked the same feeling was the Moser Streamliner Centre Seconds.

It is very concerning that hand knurling has been replaced by CNC. "Since the brand’s creation in 1996, Michel Parmigiani had worked with the same artisan who applies the knurling to every single Toric watch by hand. Through his creations, the brand helps to keep this precious skill alive."

Thank you Alexander and Guido for this part of the guide for the making of the watch case and the dial. The human activities add so much more to a machined blank and arguably add that bit of unique personality to each case. People often do not understand how much time, effort and the shear number of operations that go into making watch parts. It's great to hear about the QC/QA for testing, procedures and lessons learned etc. Great video, I'm looking forward to the next one.

Again, thanks for doing this. Still wait for mine, maybe you saw mine to be manufactured 😉 My AD told me that there is an incredible demand for the micro rotor piece, which PF wasn't expecting. But this makes me happy because I think the timepiece absolutely deserves it! I would have loved to see in detail how the guillochage is applied, but some secrets need still to be kept I assume 😉 I'm looking forward seeing the next part. And I'm pleased seeing how involved Guido is in this. I don't think it's normal that a CEO of the company is taking the time to show you around in that detail. Very symphatic!

Thank you Alexander and Guido for the detailed tour. I have two questions regarding two components which are the bezel and the guilloche. 1-Bezel: From what I understood from this video, the decoration on the bezel (Moltage) is done by machine, right? I remember that in other models like the Toric the moltage is hand-knurled by specialist with an antique machine. So, is it done by machine when it comes to the Tonda because platinum is harder to hand-knurl, while in the Toric it’s done by hand because gold is easier to hand-knurl? 2-Dial guillochage: What I understood from the video is the the guilloche pattern is done by CNC machine. Would that be correct? Or is it done with a traditional engine-turned guilloche machine?

@@WatchAdvisor Alexander, I just read in Hodinkee’s article on the new PF models where Guido mentions that it’s authentic hand-turned guillochage. So, what to believe here 😅?
@WatchAdvisor
@WatchAdvisor 2 жыл бұрын
@@inkhaurt5812 The dial of the Tonda PF is not engine-turned, the pattern is so fine you need the help of a CNC machine, the bezel is made out of platinum, also here a machine does the work since platinum is a very hard material … Also due to increased production quantities it is no longer possible to do this uniquely by hand… That’s what is actual today… I don’t know how old the article is though…
@inkhaurt5812
@inkhaurt5812 2 жыл бұрын
@@WatchAdvisor The article is from 26 October 2021, so around the time of the introduction of the Tonda PF collection. Here’s the exact excerpt: "Returning to the dial side, each Tonda PF model has received an identical Grain d'Orge guilloché decoration. And to be clear, this is genuine guilloché, finished on a rose engine lathe in Fleurier. The alternating, weave-like guilloché pattern is genuinely breathtaking in person. Terreni points out that no other high-end sport-lifestyle watch features authentic guilloché. I had to think about it a bit, and depending on how you characterize the current-gen Breguet Marine dial finish, I believe he's right (though I look forward to being proven wrong in the comments section)." great to see such attention to detail, a world away the likes of Rolex. vraiment haute horlogerie - but at a fair price. especially pre-owned! just go easy on the videos, I don't want everyone finding out about them!

Great video. Any idea what PF is going to do for Watches & Wonders 2022? Maybe a new dial color for Tonda PF?

Dials arent's guillochés, because done by automatic machines. Only dials decorated by hand-driven machines can hold this name.

Beautiful, but they need a name change (maybe separate the manufacturer brand from the watch brand, the manunfacturer remain Parmigiani and add a new name for the watch brand) because with Pizza parmigiani name is hard to be in the big league. For a conoseur yes, Parmigiani and JLC are real watchmakers, but for public succes the Parmigiani name is wrong. If I was the CEO of Parmigiani, I will buy the brand Universal Geneve (or someting historical watch brand) and with Parmigiani manufacture skill I relaunch that brand.

parmigiani: sounds like cappucino, panettone, parmigiano reggiano :). change the Name immediately, people cant take this watch with this name seriously

So, parmigiani vs parmigiano (parmezan cheese) does not sound similar for you? Ok, but who will buy a watch that sounds like a cheese? Or im i wrong here? Whats next? Canolli bracelet? :)
