You are very welcome. In answer to your question - Yitro JOINEDBnei Yisrael AFTER they received the Torah at Mount Sinai and became an official nation. They were known in the world as IVRIM - HEBREWS, not YEHUDIM, Jews. But they were known as ONE FAMILY that descended from Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov

Thank you for such an insightful and eye opening lecture! I wanted to clarify one thing. We used to sacrifice animals as Korban. For the physical world the animal no longer existed. When a holy soul is sacrificed in Shamayim, does that mean this soul no longer exists anywhere anymore?

Why are women not allowed to read the Zohar? I recently heard Rabbi Alon say it was okay for women and gentiles to read it. My husband bought me the Zohar a few months ago, but now I am not certain if I should read it or not.

Thank you for asking. In truth women should NOT be reading straight from the Zohar nor should men who are not trained enough in all the areas of Torah be learning it. Women are not meant to sit and study the Zohar because there are certain times of the month when they are "unclean" - plus it requires a great deal of spiritual concentration and devotion that women cannot commit to because they are occupied with other matter in the home. And men who have not yet reached the age of 40, are not married, are not religious or have a beard - should not in any way sit and study the holy Zohar. Sadly, there are people out there who have brought DOWN the level of the teachings of the Zohar to the mundane and to those who are not even well-versed in the 5 books of Moses or not G-d fearing or even Jewish. I do not know why Alon Anava told you it's okay but it is actually not all right for women to open up a Zohar and study it from the Divine pages - nor is it permitted for a gentile to sit and study it.

Reference- וַיֹּ֕אמֶר לֹ֥א תוּכַ֖ל לִרְאֹ֣ת אֶת־פָּנָ֑י כִּ֛י לֹֽא־יִרְאַ֥נִי הָאָדָ֖ם וָחָֽי׃ Approach- From interpretation of Rashi Resolve- Limits on everything, mortal, LBVH -warned that one should not reject Hashem, at all timescales,Hashem provided a way for Moshe despite limitations.
