I feel guilty about my son’s head shape. When he was a baby, he spent a lot of time laying on his back because that’s what the hospital advised me to do. I was 22 and a first-time mother, and no one informed me about the potential issue with head shape and how to prevent it. After six months, I noticed that his head was flat, and I was upset that no one had warned me about it. Although his head shape has improved since then, it is still somewhat flat. I have carried this guilt since 2019, and I despise this feeling because I cannot go back in time to fix it. If I could, I would. I have become overly obsessed with comparing my son’s head to other people’s heads and questioning myself as a mother. It feels like everyone else knows about this issue except me. It was never discussed in my family, and I had no prior knowledge of it. Interestingly, my own head is also flat, but I was unaware of it.

Well we all suffer from mom guilt! If you also have a flat head it may be due to genetics that's why ur baby has it too. My baby is 3 months old and has plagiocephaly on the left side I'm extremely worried 😢

I don't think you're late. You still have one year of time. You just need to put her on the other side, and I think you will see improvement. By me I first noticed it when he was 6 months old, and I started regularly putting him on his stomach. It did slightly improve, but his head shape is still not completely round. However, he is incredibly beautiful and smart, and I love him so much.

@@Maes809 thank you! I'm trying to reposition her as much as I can. I do tummy time too but not seeing much improvement! Maybe it will take some time to get better. I think as we have all those insecurities of being not perfect we worry about our kids too. I hope I can teach my baby to love herself no matter how she looks.

@@Momeena7777 Absolutely! It's important to teach our children to love themselves just the way they are, regardless of their appearance. Confidence and self-acceptance are invaluable qualities that will serve them well throughout their lives. Celebrate her unique qualities, encourage her talents and interests, and remind her that true beauty comes from within. Your love and support will make a lasting impact on her self-esteem. Keep up the great work! My son is now 5 years old and he has a lot of hair, so it's difficult to see what's underneath. However, I'm relieved to say that my mom guilt has decreased after therapy. I was really worried because when I searched for information about flat head syndrome online, I came across so many negative stories. It made me feel like babies with flat heads are neglected, and that made my heart hurt because I care and love my son so much.

@@Momeena7777 You're welcome! It's great that you're trying your best to reposition her and doing tummy time. Sometimes it takes time to see significant improvement, so don't worry too much. It's natural to have insecurities about being perfect, and as parents, we often project those worries onto our kids. Teaching your baby to love herself unconditionally is a wonderful goal. Remember, beauty comes in many forms, and what matters most is the love and care you provide. Absolutely! I constantly reposition my babys head but she stubbornly turns it back each time and she screams on tummy time. Idk what to do... I've started to carry her a lot more but realistically I can't carry her for 24h.

The baby's head is flat because they need to turn the baby when its sleeping. Put it on its stomach wile it is awake to help with the muscles in its neck.
