yes its so unfortunate that we aren't taught how to maneuver that type of money at a young age. the kardashians literally created a church (with no actual building) in order for Kim to basically "donate" 10% of her earning to a church "as charity" meanwhile she and her mom owned the church and the church has 1,000 yearly membership fee. scammers of the century lol but I guess thats how it works you gotta scam the gov. get paid through your "company" start a "church" etc...

@@alexpress5375 Look up "John Oliver Televangelist" here on youtube. Watch that entire episode. He breaks down what Valentino is saying. It is ridiculously easy to start a church as a tax haven. And when people like the Kardashians donate to their "church" two things happen: 1) They get to write off that 10% on their taxes at the end of the year; and, 2) ALL the money received at their fake "church" is NOT Taxed. So this means WE, the real taxpayers, are sending refunds from Our money to Their butt injection bank accounts.

That’s why I don’t agree w/ the saying pay me what I’m worth. Bc you can’t put no price behind our value. One person might earn $10 an hour, say pay me what I’m worth fighting for a $3 increase only to be under the illusion that, that is their worth when in reality in ain’t no dollar that can truly pay for the worth and value of our lives and who we are.

Between taxes and her team that’s already 80% of her salary gone. 30K left and she spent all 30K on her sons tuition. Reminds me when TLC broke down their money issues at the Grammys in 96. No shade just facts! You really have to love doing anything in the entertainment industry when you first start out.

I don't think her numbers are correct. The highest tax bracket is 37% (assuming she made more than $518k that year). It's also very rare to pay both an agent AND a manager. If we assume that she got the job through a manager, his/her cut would be 15% and then an entertainment attorney would be 5%. So... you would subtract $55,500 for taxes (max), $22,500 for the manager, and $7500 for the attorney. So that would actually leave her with $64,500. However, she would be able to write off a shitload of things. I've written in Hollywood before and I could write off a percentage of many expenses including rent and utilities. If her tax guy is even halfway decent, he should have cut her tax liability down by a third or maybe half of that $150k.
@ASmith-jn7kf
@ASmith-jn7kf 2 жыл бұрын
Uh, no. They tax base off of a certain amount, rich people are not just in one bracket. They have income tiers and each tier is taxed at a certain amount. How do you know that you don't have to pay a manager and agent??

And every agency charges differently. And you are assuming she has things to write off, which she obviously didn't.
@HEMDWellness

@@billybatson7852 it is not very rare to pay both manager and agent. Maybe you are referring to music industry but your manager gets paid regardless because they are with you long term including your developmental stage usually while agents are usually switched over the growth of your career. 10-20% agent usually at least 15% for manager. Publicist could be 3k a month. Could have a stylist. Retainer and/or percentage for lawyer. Life expenses including who in her family she is now taking care of. Also just productions you are independently contracted not employee. And I'm curious does that 37% include the social security and medical tax?

Well, she would've had other money coming in for other projects she did that year. If not, then her tax liability would only have been 22%. There's no way she only had $30k left... taxes would max out at 37% and then a manager is 15% and an attorney is 5%. Plus, if her accountant is halfway decent, she would have written off a ton of expenses.

@SPChannel722
@SPChannel722 2 жыл бұрын
@@billybatson7852You are correct, she was in several projects during this time frame and I don't think her point was to decieve us into thinking this was her only income that year. She was simply demonstrating how Benjamin Button, despite the successful film it was and what she brought to the film (her performance was nominated for an Oscar), when it was all said and done it really only paid her son's tuition for one year. Taraji's example here seems to be indicative of what women, and particularly women of color, have been saying for years regarding their lack of pay and appreciation in the industry compared to their counterparts. I think it's about time we listen and, maybe even, believe them.
@nikkoramirez2695
@nikkoramirez2695 5 ай бұрын
@@SPChannel722I think there is a whole other side we are not talking about here. Up until that point before Benjamin Button what massive movie did was sue the Star in that made a lot of money? She really had tiny small parts in movies and the two movies she was known for at that time where more cultural movies with baby boy and hustle and flow. So being cast and paid what she was for a movie staring Brad Pitt was acting probably what her worth was at that time. She was a supporting character most likely third billing in the film. The movie cost 167M to make add another 70M to market and promote. As good as the movie was it only made 337M but you subtract the spending then you actually only made less the 90M. I do believe she is a good actress I enjoy her but she also let herself get type casted a lot. That hurts your value because I think it hinders her range.

I have had my share of jobs and I know me so I know what I can bring to any table. I had an offer for a position at a job recently. I interviewed. I took their little assessment and they denied me. Then the same company for the same position at a DIFFERENT location offered me a chance. Weird right?! And I turned it down because like taraji mentioned, we have to know our worth. It's basically the same way when you're a music producer and audio engineer. You spend your profit on more equipment and bills just to keep the studio going. Yeah you're doing what you love but majority of the time you're paying to do it. You gotta really have passion to be in the entertainment industry because you're gonna spend damn near just as much as you make just to maintain. She forgot to mention that 50% going to taxes is only in California. I've been hearing a lot of people complaining about how high taxes are in California.

The appreciation I have for her breaking down those numbers is real! You have to be a phenomenally amazing woman to be comfortable enough in your skin to disclose this info!

My mother and Taraji could be sister or even cousins I swear. Seeing her in baby boy I swore it was my mother and told all my friends my mom was on tv. She’s like my famous mom I never got to meet. Cause I’m stuck w my mom lol. Love her spirit 🌹

I just know the ratings this year will be crazy! Ngl I didn't really watch when they were at home. I'm glad they are back in studio! The guest stars are really good this season.

I discovered in Nursing white health care workers are paid more than black nurses who are at the same exact level. I discovered this by accident when I was working for the CEO of a company. I had the opportunity to view the salaries of equal workers hired the same time with the same credentials and experience. I was shocked and disappointed.

It sadly happens in many industries. Women are paid less, but women of color are paid the least.

Tataji is my inspiration. I love her and live her. 💕 I always doubt myself because of being a single mom and dealing with depression. Watching her interviews and watching her in movies bring me so much life. I truly respects Taraji.
