When Babymetal split of from Sakura Gakuin there was that amazing Legend 1997 Live performance, which coincidentally symbolises the end of Suzuka as an idol and the transformation to Su-metal the Goddes of Metal of Metal Queen. (Babymetal Death with the crucifiction).

One thing to understand about Sakura Gakuin, which means cherry blossom academy, is that many j-pop groups are made up of a large number of members, some as large as 99 or more, and also sometimes have themes, like the school theme that SG uses. The heavy music club, Babymetal, was only ever supposed to be an experiment, but because it was so good, and became so popular it was allowed to become a separate entity, produced by Kobametal, and owned by Amuse. In Japan required schooling ends at 15 years old, which is why the girls "graduate" from amuse at that time and move on to whatever they want to do. Some stay under contract with Amuse and get put into other groups, or go off to either continue their education or continue in the entertainment industry with another agency. I'll leave it at that for now since you have a lot more video coming up that I don't want to get ahead of.

In 2013 Babymetal became a totally separate entity from Sakura Gakuin. Moa and Yui still did SG for a couple more years, but those activities were totally separate from Babymetal.

Yes there is a lot to take in, believe it or not the fans have basically data mined most of this information and Crypticmisery has done a great job putting it all together so it is less confusing for new fans. You will probably find as the rest of us have the more you learn about the girls the more you appreciate just how good they are and how long and hard they have worked to get where they are today. A lot of people incorrectly assume that they were just chosen to be a part of this group and were instantly performing on huge stages with tons of publicity when really they had humble beginnings with not much financial backing, they had to borrow clothes for their first costumes and would play tiny shows in malls and food halls of music festivals to backing tracks etc. until they grew in popularity and Amuse became more interested in supporting them. So one thing I am not sure you picked up on was that Babymetal started at the same time as Sakura Gakuin started and although Yui and Moa were not technically founding members of SG, they really were, they were just held back a couple of months so they could become the first "transfer students" The transfer ceremony is a live production that the group puts on each year so they needed the first two and Yui and Moa being the youngest got the short straw lol. Also the girls heights given in this guide is the height they are now they were a lot smaller back when they first started.

For SU's solo's you've already done Akatsuki unfinished version for the trilogy of death, for the finished version check out Akatsuki at Budokan Black Night,another solo is Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro it showcases the band as well as SU. It's just a misinterpretation of the word saying SU was a founding member of Sakura Gakuin what was meant is she was one of the original 10 members selected by Amuse.

Well done for doing this! I have to smile when people talk of the pressures of school life on young folk today on the news. After Yui and Moa joined SG (for which they had the pressures of audition), they had to learn the routines of SG. As well as the routines for Babymetal, Mini Patti and Twinklestars. They had to perform all these routines perfectly for audiences, as well as doing their ordinary school life work, and all this remember when they were 10 yeas old. Their days must have been crazy at this point!

What seemed to be missing in the guide is, Amuse's original idea is they choose their more talented/promising girls.who aren't already really busy (and who can regularly get to Tokyo) and through the activities of this group the girls get training/experience in everything of the entertainment industry, acting, public speaking, giving and being interviewed, hosting a show, photo shoots (most already have experience with that because a lot are child models) and singing and dancing of course. It's also a way to discovery hidden passions and talents. I've you've never tried something you might not know you like it or have a talent for it.

everyone else covered pretty much everything so i'll just add that another one of the full english songs that wasn't written on the card is From Dusk Till Dawn. it's one of my favorite songs but it has been performed only twice. one time a few years ago during touring so there's no live video of it. but the second time it was this year during the 10 babymetal years concerts and there will be a liveshot of it by the end of this month

The clip with Su on a circle ring with flames is from the Legend S baptism xx show in December 2017 the performed the song Babymetal Death at the end of the show with Su “sacrificed” on a ring with XX on it than returned for the last song of the show

Anyway, NO! you are not allowed to watch BM songs on the side without reacting to it (just kidding... kinda) - well at least ones you haven't heard yet (except MV vs live). Couple of things: Su is a year and a half older than MoiMoi (Yui and Moa combo) so it sometimes is difficult timeline-wise to figure things out. Just think they are two school years apart. A few (overly long) facts to add to their beginnings (don't know if anyone else already mentioned them): The name BABYMETAL is not only because they "gave birth" to a new genre, it's also a pun in Japanese. BABYMETAL ベビーメタル (Be-bii-me-ta-ru) is almost the same spelling as Heavy Metal ヘビーメタル (He-bii-me-ta-ru). Sakura Gakuin means "Cherry Blossom Academy" and is "very Japan" when it comes to music groups. A lot of Idol groups have their own theme and consist of countless members. For example the most successful Idol group ever, AKB48, currently consists of 98 members (according to Wikipedia). They are split into several sub-groups because not all of them perform on stage or in MVs together, only the most popular members are chosen to do that. They also switch members a lot, some of them aren't even in the group for longer than a few months. If they can't garner enough attention to stand out (aka. make enough money), they (have to) "graduate the group". The members of many of those groups are, while working together, in constant competition amongst themselves because of that, which is, thankfully, not really the case in Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is more than just an "Idol group", because it's something like AMUSE's "farm team". They not only learn how to sing and dance, but also how to act and how the entertainment business in general works. Some former members became models and actresses. For example, Miyoshi Ayaka from the first graduation class (best known in the west for her role in Alice in Borderland, a pretty successful Netflix series) is probably the most famous ex-SG member in Japan, even more so than BABYMETAL, because she's on a lot of billboards for Gucci, Prada and brands like that, in addition to starring in some pretty successful movies ("Leaving on the 15th Spring" or "Dance with me" for example). Some girls started (or tried to) solo careers, like Mutou Ayami (also first grad class) and some joined other or formed their own groups, like the four girls who graduated in 2020, who are "performing" as @onefive now. Actor's School Hiroshima is an "entertainment school". Suzuka was in the sing & dance course I assume. Her older sister Himeka was a founding member of a highly successful Idol group, Nogizaka46, from 2009 to 2017, when she quit because of mental health problems (burn out or something similar I think). She was even more famous than Suzuka while she was active. Now she is or is working to be a mental health counselor. There are a lot of other successful artists coming from ASH, like the three women of Perfume (one of the most successful music groups of all time in Japan) or the former "Ace" of Morning Musume (another highly successful Idol group), Sayashi Riho. Riho was also a BABYMETAL Avenger for a year, but that will be coming up later on in the video.

The name Babymetal is also a pun: Babymetal in Japanese is spelled like heavy metal with a heavy metal umlaut (or hebimeta dakuten ;-) ): Heavy metal: ヘビメタ (romaji transcription: hebimeta) Babymetal: ベビメタ (romaji transcription: bebimeta) If you want to start with Su solo songs, "Akatsuki" live at Budokan and "Rondo of Nightmare" with mischief of the metal Gods intro live at Budokan are 2 good ones The other 2 crucifixion you saw was one at the Tokyo Dome, where all 3 the girls were crucified at the beginning of the show, and the one with extra flames was at Legend S, and it was the second to last song for that show.

The lore of "Babymetal" meaning a new type of metal was actually added on later. "Babymetal" is actually a play on words in Japanese. Babymetal ベビーメタル and Heavy Metal ヘビーメタル Which look identical when written in Katakana. By changing Heh ヘ to Beh ベ the word Heavy became Bebi or Baby. Thus from Heavy Metal to Babymetal. This is the TRUE reason for the naming of the band. The "birth of a new genre" story became part of the lore kind of by coincidence.

I would like to see you actuallt react to all the Su metal crucifieds lol. From what I can tell she does for special occasions and birthdays. All of them do something leading up to their birthdays or on it, so you might find really cool or rare performances. Also, there rare instances where the whole band gets crucified. I think it happend in the Tokyo Dome video. Sadly, you can't just find it on youtube for free and is probably even more protected since you have to buy to watch it on youtube. If you do have issues and want to show reactions not blocked I recommend setting up a patreon where people could support you. Many people would love to see content not really hidden or not much afraid of losing revenue but up to you. Please do find the rare videos like the all the different crucified ones since they are lost to time here from what I can tell. I also know how to find KZfaq videos very hidden but certain things are practically impossible. One more "correction" to this. Sakura Gakuin isn't a school. It is a "school themed" idol group. Although they do go through some intense training and learning, Sakura Gakuin is the name of the idol group. They are no different than Morning Musume or AKB48 as far as them being an idol group. Most idol groups have age limits and must graduate members when they reach a certain age. It's part of the "Idol Culture". The difference is in who runs them, the management/ talent agency, Amuse. Who also manages other well known Japanese artists like One Ok Rock and Perfume, plus actors, performers, dancers, and others. One big misconception is that Sakura Gakuin is a school. It is not. It is a school themed idol group. Being that it is a school themed idol group, there were sub units within the group, like school clubs. Like the Tennis club Pastel Wind, the Cooking club Mini Pati, Science club Logica, Newspaper club Scoopers, Baton club Twinklestars, and of course the Heavy Music club Babymetal. Each club would release a single throughout the year and would be added to the final Sakura Gakuin album which is released only once a year.

The claim that the name BABYMETAL has nothing to do with their ages is an assumption too, as far as I’m concerned. In a brief discussion with CrpticMisery he told me that Su said it has to do with the creation of a new form of metal, which I was already aware of, actually. Su-Metal is a character and as such taking anything said by her “in character” as objective truth is quite. leap. For example, she’s also mentioned that the spirit (or whatever) of the fox god descends on them during concerts and therefor they have recollection of their performances. Anyway, I wasn’t going to say any of this, but then you highlighted the point. 😉 I’m a fan of this guide, but this point does chap my hide a bit, and sounds like after-the-fact embellishment by Koba, the fox god or whichever guiding hand behind the scene.

1+ hours video ? .... well .. when someone try learning about Babymetal , an hour video is nothing. if CrypticMisery put all the Lore and all history of everything anything to Babymetal then the video will maybe 3+ hours long. just remember if you go into detail , " The Lore " itself will take few days or weeks or even months to understand just half of it.
