We have had quite a few comments asking why we don't run this part on a Swiss-style machine. We have access to the Walter that allows us to make carbide and HSS cutting tools as well as medical devices. In our application, it is important to show how our Walter universal cutter grinder can be utilized in many applications where a swiss turning machine does not make cutting tools. The Walter machine is capable in other markets because of its versatility. The grinding process also generally produces a better surface finish as well.

@@steinarne79 well it’s clear the machine isn’t going to be of use to you so why bother taking the time to comment on it? This channel is showing the machine capabilities of a bunch of different machines and applications, still a learning type channel, who knows what the print says as far as tolerances and finishes.

I'm glued to Scott's grinding videos. How would one describe the difference between "Trueing a wheel" versus "Dressing a wheel " ? [Please and thank you.].
@scottleoncini9341
@scottleoncini9341 3 жыл бұрын
By dressing a wheel, we are "trueing it". They are kind of one and the same, however, you may be dressing for another purpose such as to create an angle or other feature.
@patrickmartinez3217
@patrickmartinez3217 3 жыл бұрын
You true a wheel to the arbor because when they are produced, they aren’t perfectly concentric to the arbor. You dress a wheel to open the pores of the wheel to allow for a more free cutting wheel. If you ever get a chance, they make a vitrified cbn or diamond wheel that allows it to be dressed with a rotary dresser. These are excellent for shaped wheels or wheels that have to hold a really sharp, 90 degree corner. They don’t wear at the beginning of the wheel where all the cutting is done .
