Part 1 How to add the airbrush to a watercolor painting.

This is painted on 140 lb. Arches cold pressed watercolor paper.
I started it the traditional
watercolor style and then decided to add the airbrush to get the look that I wanted. I will post part 2 which will show some conventional brush work to finish it up.

Can I ask something, I just want to learn using air brush, can water colours replace air brush paint for air brush painting ?

Yes, then can but all my paints are waterbased and ready to spray. I use Createx Illustration Colors and also Createx wicked colors.

Some watercolors I use don’t spray well in my airbrush. I made sure it was clean and the needle was lubed. Have you ever had this problem?

I use Createx Illustration Colors to enhance my watercolor paintings. I don't mix watercolor from the tube because Createx works fine with the watercolor.

@@imagineairbrushbillsnegon thank you for the reply. I tried some of my golden acrylics and they sprayed fine. The particular watercolor pigment I was using must have been too grainy.

You're welcome. Yes, the grain in the paint could definitely clog the airbrush. 🙂🎨

I just wanna ask would pan watercolor work? I have liquid watercolor but I'd like to try it out with me new airbrush but I don't want to mess it up

As far as spraying goes, I'm using Createx Illustration Colors. The watercolors are M. Graham in the tube. I don't have to premix any paint to airbrush.

why cold over hot press

I do believe I used cold pressed for this painting. It's hanging at my son's Art Studio, so I'm not totally sure. I probably would have rather used the hot pressed for this one because of the more realistic style. The smoother paper seems to be nice for detailing for me. I hope I answered your question! 🙂🎨
