You had some help today. That's what my wife and I did today, move lots of flat rocks, dirt and flowers. Your BX just fits, risky business, great for tight spots like that. Oh yeah, the mosquitos are out. Lots of work ahead but your off to a good start Mike. Looking forward to the next part. Have a good one!

Thanks Paul! Yes Michelle was out helping and relocating some plants before they got buried. I like to plan things out sometimes a little too much but it’s what works for me. Thanks for watching! Cheers

I see I’m not the only one having fun with rocks 😉👍🏻. It’s a working look 👍🏻. You’re going to have a solid footing and wall 👍🏻. Man plywood is expensive 😮🤦🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️…sounds like a great plan Mike and Michelle 👍🏻. Have a great Sunday 👍🏻🙋🏼‍♂️🙂🇨🇦🍻

Absolutely! I think there are more rocks here than dirt! Lol. Yes plywood is still way too high. At least a 2x4 is 5-6 bucks again. Michelle was saving her plants before they get buried in dirt. Thanks for watching and you two have a great weeekend! Cheers, Mike.

Lots of prep work involved Mike. The old concrete steps must have been a surprise to ya. But you now have a solid base to pour on.

For sure Kenny. That landing slab is about 12 inches thick! Good thing I don’t have to move it. lol. Have a good weekend and thanks for stopping by. Cheers, Mike.

Interesting. The monolithic pour is smart. It’ll add strength. I poured an L-shaped retaining wall several years ago the same way (short side of the L upright and the long part buried). It was done to hold back a driveway from a house below it on a hill. The bark mulch will look good. Had you considered using a dye in the concrete. It can really make it blend in. Also, the rubber floor mat_type stamps can turn an ugly slab into a beautiful thing but, of course, it has to be done right away on semi-firm concrete. Great work, Mike🎉

I definitely thought about die, but didn’t feel I’d want to try it myself in something that big the first time. I like the idea of the bark mulch much more now. Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned for the finished product! Cheers, Mike.

This will be fun and I am looking forward to following along. I think digging the trench will be a challenge unless you have an adjustable offset on your backhoe like a mini excavator does
@maintenancewithmike
@maintenancewithmike 2 ай бұрын
Your correct! No offset,and I can’t line up straight behind the trench. We will make do though. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Mike

Are you going to put post down into the ground under the centre line and pour around those post to help keep it from falling away again. ? Just wondering. I have no experience in that stuff.
@maintenancewithmike
@maintenancewithmike 2 ай бұрын
Nope. Each side of the wall will be tied to something. One side will be anchored to the existing concrete stairs with steel and the other side will be tied to that big slab with steel. As it turns out I increased the thickness of the footing as well to 11-12 inches thick for more bottom weight. Thanks for following along my friend. Cheers, Mike.
