A new set of videos focussing on how to paint backdrops in a quick and effective way. Really meant to help those that have large layouts with long narrow isle ways and lots of running space. I will take you through the whole process of one person painting 25 feet in less than three hours. It is something the whole club or team can do and there is no special skills required. Just some paint brushes and courage. Follow the series and give it a try.

Would like to use this method but cannot find a stiff bristle round brush like the one you use. Any suggestions where to find them.

Hi, I know it has been some time sense you made the video but if you would, could you give me some info: #1 where and what type of brushes do you use. Are they expensive or just run of the mill. I know you said STIFF brush is better. 2. A list of all the paints you used and brand names. And most of all. What color paint did they or you use for the blue sky. I am going to give it a shot on my 22' long wall. Thanks and best video and best explanation of how to!! John Y.

Chris Lyon, this HO backdrop series is very helpful and encouraging for those of us that would like to give it a go. My question is I have a smaller, O gauge layout with 14 foot of wall to paint. Do I make any changes, size wise, to the trees and shrubs etc? Thanks in advance, Greg

Hi Greg. This method works for all scales. This is a layout that I painted in On3. The foreground is the only part that needs to be bigger. The trees. It also helps to keep 1/3 of the backdrop sky kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fMuhnr2CnbHIcmw.html

Thanks Chris, do you have any tips if I want my backdrop to be 'late summer' / 'early autumn'? That's a very beautiful time here in the hills of Western Pennsylvania. Do I dab on a little burnt umber? Appreciate your advice. Greg

WOOPS, I missed the #1 video and all the info I needed. So I have the black and yellow paint and brushes. Sorry;. But I do need the sky color. And would it hurt to use a paint roller for the sky. ?? Thanks again. John Y.

+JOHN YASENCHAK The blue sky is a very light shade and I do use a flat house paint that is applied with a roller. The darker the blue the room appears smaller and the layout is less lifelike. make sure that the blue is geat based and has no green in it.

I cannot put a site IP comment. squirrel 628 pure bristle brushes size 10 or 12... round..made in china. Order from DeSerres.ca. You can order them on line. They show a set on their site but you can order individual sizes. Maybe they have US outlets. Or you can contact an art supplier and see if they can get them for you.
