Timing Belts. BELIEVE IT. When Timing Belts became the Universal fitting on many engines, renewal parameters were far wider and longer than they are today. I have removed ORIGINAL Belts from O, S, T and K Series MG and Rover engines with 90,000 miles and still looking good for many more thousands. The revised renewal intervals such as every five years or 60,000 miles were much reduced from the original guidelines simply as a belt and braces safety measure for Warranty and Guaranteed Main Dealership servicing and repairs in the Professional Environment. The MG and Rover K-Series is one of the easiest DOHC ( Double Over Head Camshaft ) engines to work on. A pleasure to work on in fact compared to some others. Keep this good stuff coming our Norwegian Rover and MG enthusiast. It is much appreciated. EDIT TO ADD Water Pump Bolts. 🤤 "There is a tiny Bolt Behind it" Been there discovered that. Once discovered never forgotten...

I have to agree that it is a very simple and straightforward engine to work on! This one is the first I’m doing a head gasket on and it has been easy so far. Soon the cylinder head is going for a skim so that I can finally start reassembling ☺️I am impressed how long the timing belt has held up. Nearly 19 years and 98.000 miles! I remember Opel cars from the 90’s and early 2000’s where notorious for premature timing belt failures so this is impressive!!

Wonderfully detailed video, 😊 this has been a huge help for me replacing the head gasket on my MGF. Thank you for your commitment to show the whole process, it really sets your videos apart. I’m a novice home DIY mechanic and find it frustrating when so many ‘how to’ videos cut out so much important details! Yours are brilliant because they show entry little nut and bolt of the whole project. Thank you !! Also, you are easy to listen to and have a very engaging manner about you too 👍 All the best, Steve in the uk 🇬🇧

Pleasure is all mine🙏I knew there had to be someone that could appreciate this level of detailed recording ☺️Unfortunately the reassembly isn’t that good because I had do literally throw it back together because I had to get out of my flat as quickly as h…. . But I hope that will be useful as well ☺️

🙂I’m definitely one of the 1 in every ten that love the detail. It’s positively therapeutic watching your videos; I appreciate your patient and methodical approach, and especially the emphasis on regular tea breaks 😉 Steve 👍

It’s not a typical thing for Norwegians to do but being fan of the British culture and not to mention British cars it just feels appropriate, and I do like it ☺️☕️
