This episode covers the remaining 38kms, including the detour to summit Silver Peak, the highest point in the park. Then it was back to the main trail to grind out the remaining kilometers with sore feet on yet another long day.

Tat perceived distant snow was probably just white quartz which is a very distinct feature of this beautiful park !

I would have to review the video, but yes it could have been. But on this trip, there were still patches of snow everywhere, so it could have been either.

Nothing but admiration for your stamina! It kind of reminded me of a trip we took when about your age. Toronto to Killarney very early, paddled into Silver Lake, climbed Silver Peak, hiked back to camp on Silver Lake, dinner in the dark, and back to Toronto the next day! Now at 72 it is inconceivable to do a big hike, so challenge yourself and always do what you can when you are young!

Thanks so much Carol! Thankfully we made it. (I was concerned if I'd make it.) 😄 I didn't question my desire or mental strength, but I certainly did my feet! Yup, that sounds like quite the push too! Awesome. I bet you had a lot of wonderful adventures in your life too. 😊

wow! That was insane! I can't believe you guys made it in 2 days! Looks like a great 5-day circuit 👍 some gorgeous views and colours from that first peak in the morning.

Great video, thanks for taking the time to video your trek. Great editing and commentary too. It all brought back some wonderful memories of when I hiked your route in 2003, 3 days, 1st week in May. Same water and beaver dam conditions but the lakes were 99% iced over and the trail was 20% snow covered. I was lucky that the mornings were cold enough to freeze the snow so walking was quick and easy on the snow. There were no human tracks in the snow.

Hi Richard, you're welcome! There are times when I curse the filming enroute, but even for me, it is great to relive the moments when time has passed. That's really neat that you got similar conditions. Looks like we have more in common! Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers.

Loving your videos every Tuesday - thanks for posting! Every trip to the northern Georgian Bay area for me ends with a hotel stay and meal in Parry Sound - sorry you missed out!

You're welcome! We tried. I knew we wouldn't make it, but Grant wanted to try. Oh well, at least we didn't notice how uncomfortable it was sleeping in the vehicle! :-D

Great stuff guys, killarney is the place to be. Being going there for 40 years and reckonized lots of the incredible sites that you passed through. I had a laugh when you decided to go up Silver Peaks as a side trail, im sure its left its marks. Those memories will last forever....thanks for the video !

Thanks Andre, couldn't agree more! That's amazing, 40 years. It's always a great view from Silver Peak, especially now having seen it in all seasons. Thanks for watching and sharing your comments. Cheers!

That's a tough trail to do in 48 hrs buddy, great job! The worst part for me was walking from the end of the trail to my car lol. Those campground trails are murder on the feet! Cheers!

😆That last walk to the vehicle was brutal!!! I totally agree. Yeah, we pulled it off, but I was hurting! Thanks Wade!

I can emphasize with your sore feet on this one. When I hiked the Coast to Coast Trail in England, at the end of some of the longer days, the bottoms of my feet felt like they had been whacked by 2x4s. Ouch!
@ThePursuitofPassion4 жыл бұрын
I bet! It makes me wonder, if you can condition your feet for longer distances like your muscles. Did you find them to be better for the 2nd half of the trip?

Amazing footage. Thanks for sharing! You two are absolute monsters to clear this in two days. I have issues with my feet after 10km. I noticed the Salomon trail runners your friend is wearing. I recently bought those and am awaiting delivery. I hope they mitigate my pain! These water sources are absolutely beautiful. Do you have any idea how dry the trail would be in September as compared to May? I would be a little disappointed if I missed out on the majority of this crazy wetness. ( rivers and waterfalls ) Thanks!

Thanks a lot, appreciate you checking it out. I'm actually not the best on my feet for long distances either, but orthotics made a huge difference in helping me go further. Any good quality footwear that is fitted correctly to your foot will make a big difference. My friend like those shoes and got the newer version I believe. (They were too narrow for my feet.) September would be a bad time as most water sources dry up, unless it is a very wet summer. So your chances of them all being there in September have the odds stacked against you unfortunately. Either hope for lots of rain, or go in the spring. Have fun!

Where or how did you hide your packs before hiking up to silver peak. Weren’t you worried to return and not find it. Stolen by a bear or possibly another hiker?

Yup, for sure Marcel! Except this trip was about banging out the distance. Although we still thoroughly enjoyed the sights and views, even if it was fleeting. 😀

I like this series! Lots of great memories. That part of the trail at 0:50 secs was my least favourite part of the trail. Because I love heights.....not!

Thanks James! As you can imagine we wanted to keep things as light as possible, so I only used my GoPro Hero Black 7 and my Samsung Galaxy S9+. I found when possible, positioning made a big difference, (Which you'd normally expect.)
