Every year Bill hosts folks from the USA. They come and visit for the weekend and have fun operating trains. So nice to have their company. We had a great time.

I love the pull out control panels. I'm gonna have to try those when I get to that point of wiring

Great layout and video. I’m in On30 and On3. Sn3 is just as good a scale with more room for trains.

What a lovely layout! The locomotives are a treat, and I definitely dig the trestle.

Thanks Chris for giving us fans another Bill Scobie video. Maybe you can do a Ouray Branch update one of these days.

It would be a great idea but Bill has not made any advancements there

I concur I would like see the Ouray branch and how it has progressed. I am continued to be impressed by the background. Excellent video as always Chris!

Thanks for posting Chris. Great video of a great layout. I think that S scale is a really nice scale for narrow gauge. I did not expect to see ore carried in box cars. Did the RGS do That?
@CNLVN5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ken. In the narrow gauge in Colorado Ore was moved by boxcar. In fact everything in those days was dumped in the cars by hand. I think hoppers were too expensive.

Thanks Chris and Merry Christmas Cheers Ken.

Pull out panels very cool. Love to see new ideas in these vids. Speaking of ideas....may I ask how you decided to not have staging on your old LVN? Seems to be all we hear in hobby press yet your layout worked perfect. Or did Edmonton Yard act as “visible staging”? Never heard it verbalized in any videos. I saw Mike Hamer “surround staging” in one of your videos and I am emulating that to an extent on one side of my layout. Just constructive question from novice modeler. Thx

JD. On my layout all the trains were staged in Edmonton and Shelby yards. My room was small so I wanted it all to be visible and have scenery. For the most part all was staged at the beginning of the session allowing 5 operations to occur at the same time. There was the mine run, mixed freight, grain train, intermodal and richmond yard timesaver. Staging is very important as it defines the layout as it fits into the rest of the world. Look at Bill Scobies layout and you will see that he also has staging in Durango and Montrose for his RGS.

Chris: Am I nuts or do I see the autofocus go in and out of focus assuming you use it? I know with the depth of many scenes it could have issues just like I do with AF on my dslr. And thanks for giving us a look at layouts most of us would never get to see otherwise.

Yes the focus has trouble in low light but it is the only camera I have.

So are you thinking of doing another video on the LVN at some point?

Maybe soon ...we will see..hunkered down in the the winter snows right now.

Cool! I know the feeling of being stuck because of snow though...
