Part 20! Ian Roussel 1968 VW Chopped Door Frame Structure Install. Ian Gets "Lucky" 🍀 😉
The backstory...
Ian has decided to lower this VW Beetle 6 inches to get it to the ground and start radically modifying this beat up 1968 VW Beetle, but like most things that were once going to find the fate of the crusher, he once again proves you can do some amazing things in your garage with some imagination, fearlessness and a willingness to make mistakes as you create. 🥴
His fascination stems from the seemingly limitless customization opportunities for this vehicle. Join Ian on a wild ride through his mind 👽 as he envisions then fabricates his most radical ideas to date. 😎
The origin of this custom build was inspired by @JohnnyJalopyArt Please subscribe to his channel if you haven't already!

Ian, you know whats the best part about you being on KZfaq now? We get to see the process of you finishing the other side🥹 not like the TV show where it cuts to a commercial break and when it comes back on, the car is finished and painted and ur taking out for a joyride 😂🤣 😎👍🏼🔥💯🍺

I never would have imagined the amount of small detail work that goes into building a full custom car. Work that will never be seen when completed. Please, whatever you do don't skip over the metal finishing. You might think it's boring but your fans really want to see it. I'm absolutely confident that Jamie can make the video interesting. She is getting so good at the filming and editing part. This series is awesome. Can't wait for additional episodes.

I did a little video editing with Final Cut Pro and it is not a fast process. Creating video that is interesting and entertaining takes a ton of editing. This show has both without a giant budget. Super Cool !

That is looking so cool!!! I’m 65 and have been building cars my entire life thanks to my dad, I love learning new things, and my first real boss when I was 17 told me at the time he was 75, anyone who says they know everything is full of crap, because you will never stop learning unless you want to, and I have instilled that mentality into my own kids, so thank you for sharing and teaching us there is still more than one way to do things!!! You guys rock, and I think I have watched every episode of full custom garage, I am a fan!!!

Jamie: There’s so many comments about your camerawork and editing and they’re all accurate: your work has become very professional! As good as or better than anyone else on KZfaq. Ian: What can I say that hasn’t been said before? Your creativity and ability to massage metal to your will is extraordinary! I can’t tell you both how much I appreciate and enjoy your show. It’s extremely entertaining and so much more then just car customization. It’s the story and your unique personalities. It doesn’t get much better on KZfaq! Peace, DrRick

I love how this is coming along. Looking at it from the side I was thinking about those door hinges how they get in the way and then I thought, I wonder if anyone had ever done “suicide” doors on a beetle? Now that would be pretty cool. No hinges, no door handles. I know you can custom make a door latch cause, you know… it’s Ian 😁👍🏻

Love it! Better every day. I like the look of the door/window combo even more as the rest is forming around it. It's interesting that it reminds me of five window Fords, but it ain't one! Ian can see well beyond what's being created. We see it as he creates it and may or may not envision what comes next. So much fun to watch!! Jamie's work makes it fun to watch. Y'all are better together than you may realize!

Watching the amount of work that goes into this build is fasenating. The exterior metal working is just the begining, you still need to do the interior door frame. Then do it all again on the other side of the car. Jamie your camera work and editing does keep it interesting. The comments and interaction between the two of you makes it fun.

When this first started out, with the brainstorming of a Model A / sedan motif. I had my reservations, however I've seen your other works of art, so let me get the popcorn and see where this is going to go. Brother you never disappoint, this is turning out to be an awesome project. Actually the drip rail looks really good on it, keeping with the volksie theme. I personally would run it back past and down around the rear quarter window, to give it symmetry and flow. However, that's your call. You and Jamie just keep on cranking out the great content. Y'all are killing it.

Like I said before, I'd leave the drip edge over the door, you're seeing what I saw now. You could almost use panel bond to attatch it and fill in the edge to smooth out the meeting point. now after you figure this side out you can do the exact same but opposite on the other side. lol. It's looking great

PUPPIES!!! The bug is really taking shape. I wondered why Ian didn't use a wire wheel to remove the paint, but he said that paint is tough to get off. Ian knows best. IF I were in his shoes I would try to make less cuts, but after years of making his creations Ian knows best. I laughed when Ian and Jamie discussed making these video's. Ian creates and Jamie deletes the boring. How many wives wish they could do that! HA! Three videos in a week? I AM IN HEAVEN! Lookin good there. Keep up the great work.

Talented - I could watch Ian cut up the Los Angeles phone book. Why? Two reasons (not because I'm 77 and prone to sit and stare a lot). ONE - Ian would find a unique way to not just cut up the phone book, but reassemble it to be better. TWO - Jamie would find a way to video only the interesting bits. What a team !!
