Great job you have done explaining this...concise and to the point. I would love to know the relevance in the shape of the iron inserts(not the magnet inserts). Why not a solid iron insert instead of the (u/n) shape shown? Could this shaped iron piece have much thinner walls and still do the same job? Also, instead of the double depth magnets, what would happen if the iron insert was replaced by another magnet of opposite polarity, such that the flux was repelled? So many questions? lol

@YesEinstein 2 жыл бұрын
Dear Jim Maxwell. Thanks. The iron is a low impedance in the magnetic circuit with the same shape as a main magnet to maintain path cross section. Half width bottom and side walls gave near identical results. Replacement by magnet material would increase the circuit resistance and tend to demagnetise. Regards YE

Hello, super videos. Do the stacked stator phases produce meaningfully different power levels, given their different distance to the rotors?
@YesEinstein
@YesEinstein 6 жыл бұрын
Dear Jeff, Thanks. Not so. The three phases overlap only outside the magnet coverage. Each completely fills the distance between rotors except for a small clearance. The phases ( red, blue and yellow in the diagrams) are physically identical and thus generate essentially identical outputs at progressive 120 degree delays. See Part 3 for practical detail. Regards YE

Thanks for the elucidation. I hope more videos are forthcoming. One about the controller would be good.

Can you give me dimensions of magnets and distances between them? Also rotor dimensions. I would like to reproduce this. Thanks a lot

Dear Ricardo Sousa, The prototype had 30x10x5mm magnets at 15 mm pitch; 24 off per rotor for 360 mm inside circumference. This and other constructional data may be found in my most recent videos, comments and replies. Bon Voyage, YE

This is great video, but Im sorry sir, i still dont get it how to calculate optimum air gap between magnet, maybe English not my primary language. Can u help me my magnets is ferrite 19x19x10 mm 2000gauss, i joined them so the size 57x19x10 mm, my rotor disk 3mm, and i made 12poles. Thank you
@YesEinstein
@YesEinstein Жыл бұрын
Dear Denz' Thanks. With 25mm pole pitch at inside radius, best gap appears between 6 and 10mm; 8mm nominal. You could prove by inserting a single thin trapezoidal coil with each leg centred on a pole for a range of gaps. Maximum deliverable power is indicated where its voltage squared x gap width is a maximum.

This is very interesting project. Do you have a web page or direct email to contact you? I would like to know how much Watts can achieve your Axial Flux Alternator, gas engine cc? I'm working on a similar project and if I may, I would like to share details with you. Regards!

Thank you YE, yes I saw all your videos, just amazingly detailed videos, thanks for your share. I Believe same generator with a 2 stroke engine would produce more power, pollutants can be reduced with a fiberglass filter silencer. I want to make a generator able to produce more than 2kw to move an electric vehicle for much more autonomy than batteries, and at the same time very efficient.

Dear Roberto Madriz, It may well work with a more powerful engine, but according to its FOM, doubling the power output at the same engine speed would at least quadruple dissipation in the rotor. The FOM/dissipation expressions in Parts 2 and 3 indicate scaling options that control the dissipation. Regards YE

Not practically possible. 600 mm could work for very approximately 160 watt dissipation in the rotor, or 80 Watt total if double stacked. (Reference my Part 3 appendix on scaling options) You might just linearly scale up my design, retaining air gap and magnet thicknesses. Look forward to seeing your realisation. Regards YE

@@YesEinstein 600mm is too large is it possible to limit the diameter to 200mm and increase the stack?
@YesEinstein
@YesEinstein 5 жыл бұрын
Dissipation is proportional to square of (power throughput/ rpm). According to Part 3, even if 40 Watt dissipation could be tolerated per 200mm stack, an impractical 15 might be needed for 3 kW.
