One of my favorite movies "Somewhere In Time" with Christopher Reeves was filmed there and I fell in love with that place. I lived near a lake that had an old hotel that reminds me of a scaled down version. Alas, it had a fire and closed most of the hotel. I was hoping for it to be sold, but they eventually tore it down after they closed up that last part of it. It was Beautiful in its day. Wow to that horse carriage!! That was a beautiful tour=thank you so much. 💖💖🎶🎶

Always something just gorgeous around every corner. I believe that shrub by the tennis court, may be a chaste tree. I have one in a huge planter til I can get it in the ground come autumn. I noticed last autumn it was looking really bad in it's store container, I sat it in this planter, no holes yet and half full of rain. Forgot about it, it completely froze last winter, it's looking plenty happy now, I thought for sure it was a goner.

The blue shrub is a fothergilla, maybe “Blue Mist” or “Blue Shadow”. I have been keeping my eyes out for one here in my zone 5 WI, but haven’t found one yet. I love the thought of a middle height blue layer.

Beautiful place, definitely on my bucket list. I’m wondering if the blue plant at the beginning of your “movie” 😉 is Blue Mist Fothergill. They have large ones at the Atlanta Botanical gardens. I was breathless when I when there for the first time last May. It’s a beautiful garden.

Hello 👋 and thank you Jes (and Nate) for sharing your trip to Mackinac Island. I would LOVE to make it an annual road-trip. Last year in the middle of June was (my) very first visit there as my Husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary ❤️ It truly is a special place. I did however feel that the Grand Hotel needed to hire Jack Barnwell to work on that slope going down to the grassy area as pretty as it was he could turn it into something more worthy of such a historic hotel. And somehow I completely missed the walk through the secret garden 🤦‍♀️ I’m sure I would’ve reacted the same Jes 😂💕 It’s also on my bucket list to go back and stay at the Iroquois as well so very cool to see that view included in your movie 😊 Glad you guys were able to get away and enjoy yourselves. And thank you Nate for being such a sweet and supportive husband to Jes. You guys are a sweet couple. Thanks again for sharing … and P.S. I now feel like I need a couple carved tree stumps to use for tables in our fire pit (that was originally where our pool was) … and also a rock to plant in 😂❤ Safe travels home 😊

What a great place to spend some time. Great that Nate is such a supportive husband. Your music is beautiful. I believe you said you also write songs. At minute 20:23 a poem by John Greenleaf Whittier named Barbara Frietchie came to my mind. I could almost picture her leaning out of one of those windows. I was wondering if you could put the poem (a portion, paraphrased, or in whole) to music and record it.
