I do a partial trip test and make a couple adjustments. It's long and there's an annoying beeping alarm panel sounding. Enjoy!

I have worked for companies that skip a lot of steps because of to much scheduling for the day which in reality means neglect of the system over time not to mention it’s stealing from the customers who pay for this service that is mandatory to keep in compliance with code and is a serious liability for the company you guys look like you have your act together this video really helps me step up my game thanks

Those suckers never setup for me. I usually pull them out from their unions and clean the interior up.

@bluelude2001 They are my least favorite. I was thinking about starting the video with me taking it and throwing it in the garbage and saying the best way of fixing it is replacing it and making sure to never install one on a new install. lol. They next time I run into one I’ll make a video.

@@FireSprinklerTech yeah we had a few accounts where nobody could get them set up and my boss had me go out and collect them all and I literally took a whole weekend to learn about them, tear them apart and I was bench testing them in my garage using an air compressor. I can never get them to set up after a full system trip. I always take them down and tear them apart and clean them up, lube up the pins and all that stuff.

Great video. Nice simple explanation on how the valve works. A question if I may? I'm trying to troubleshoot a false "system charged" water flow alarm that occured on a 769 NXT valve.What could be the possible reasons that the water flow alarm would trip when the system itself has not tripped? Air pressure in the system is above 20 psi, all valves are in the correct positions etc. I did notice a tiny water leak on the low pressure actuator via the vent valve, but unsure if this could be the cause. I've charged the system with the test valve, and then discharged again afterwards via the PRV under the alarm pressure switch, but can't get the alarm to clear. Driving me nuts. I've visibly aged in the last 24 hours.

Is this a pre-action system? I ask because the I think the 769 is designed for pre-action or deluge. Just want to make sure you didn't mean 768 NXT

When you say discharged via the PRV, are you referring to the manual ball drip also called a velocity check? If you don't have any water pressure on the velocity check and it is still in alarm, I would slowly remove the velocity check to confirm it isn't stuck or plugged. If the trim is clear and you are still in alarm then open the pressure switch and check the state of the switch. If the switch is active indicating a water flow then you might have a bad switch. If the switch is not active then it's an alarm system issue.

Not on this valve. This valve is a mechanical dry pipe valve. The air holds the actuator closed. Most dry valves such as the Reliable D and FX, Tyco DPV, Viking F-1, etc... are differential dry pipe valves. On those valves air pressure holds the clapper closed.
