I know this was written by his son, Micah, but this is one of the Willie-ist songs I've ever heard.

It's hard not to be sad when people get older. I'm glad we'll have Willie's legacy when he's gone.

Was a 10 year old boy on the way to watch Willie at the Grand 'Ol Opry. Something I'Ill never forget. Waited to find a pair & walked up to the stage with a Kodak camera. Knelt down before the steps. Mr. Nelson stopped playing guitar, smiled and pointed awesome directly to a happy kid. This was before the remodel/restoration at the Opry. Beautiful carved wood and inlays wrapped around the interior like a palace. That there will be something I will never forget . Thank You for helping me find a happy place Willie.

Being a child of a professional musician from Nashville in the sixties before I was born. But he continued playing music the rest of his life what an honor it would have been to sing a song with my best friend like this. When I see Willie I see him they were similar in age and heritage Dad's gone but never forgotten.

Wonderful song... dig the references to older songs. When I was a little kid... we would take road trips from STL to Tennessee all the time to go see family. Every time we would play on the road again on a old 8 track. As I grew up I traveled from 16 to 24 always playing that song if it was driving thought the desert with dead heads, driving a big rig out of Laredo or riding a motorcycle and skateboarding on the Cherokee rez in the Apalachee mountains and everywhere in between. Now... when I take my kids to STL from Kansas, I turn on the blinker to get on old 36 and tap play. The view from the highwayman's eyes, watching folks grow. It's good. Love y'all.

I've been listening to you,,Willie,,and your buddies for a long time. 1st time I tried to see you was at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson Wyoming around Memorial Day weekend in 77. The drinking age in Wyo back then was 19,,and I'd turned 18 3 months before. I hollered something,,you waved and I got chased away. We showed them,,we picked up "Red Headed Stranger" and "Wanted; The Outlaws". We were them both out by end of summer,,and like it or not,we've been friends ever since. As I said,,I was 18,,I'm now 63 and had open heart surgery 2 weeks ago. On the ride home from the hospital,,we listened to you and Merle on " Pauncho and Lefty" so thank you for a lifetime of great music. Lukie and Micah have matured into some amazing tunesmiths in their own rights. So the family bizz can continue ! Some other great musicians kids,,,mehhhhhhh ,,not so much. You and my Pops aren't too far apart in age. He's 87. Still uses his mind in a constructive way. Just wanted to say thanks ,Willie. Dont know if you even see these comments,,,but nonetheless,,,,,,,,
