Great video Vanessa and Frank! Just to add something (and maybe clear this out for others): there is something called "fundamental freedoms" here in Europe and one of them is the so-called "free movement of persons". Basically, this is what guarantees the right to reside and travel throughout Europe (if you are a European citizen), and also the prohibition of a Member State to treat citizens from the other Member States less favorable than their own nationals. However, they can treat their own nationals less favorable. Consequently, if you live in the Netherlands and you have a partnership with a Dutch national you have to face all the red tape and do the integration exam. On the other hand, if you live in the Netherlands and, for instance, have a partnership with an Italian person you don't need to do any exam, you only need to prove financial capacity and they are obliged to grant you the partner visa for 5 years. What we can conclude with that: it is easier to reside in a European country if you are married/ have a partnership with some EU citizen that is not originally from that country. If you and Frank would reside in Italy, you wouldn't have had to do an integration exam and prove a lot of things. Hope this helped somehow! Have a great holiday!

Hi Thiago, yes, that is true, if your partner is from another country (not Holland) you don't have to do exams. I mentioned that in the video. I think it makes sense. They want people to integrate. If even with those rules, we don't learn proper Dutch, imagine without? Definitely the language would disappear very fast (or faster).

Mais uma coisa sobre os gastos: além do valor que o partner que está na holanda paga quando envia os documentos, as certidões atualizadas, declaração de estado civil, traduções e apostilamento custam muito também. Fiz tudo isso há pouco tempo e gastei por volta de mil reais com toda essa parte burocrática.

Muito bom! Se me permitir adicionar uma informação: tudo deve ser feito com um bom cálculo de tempo. Os documentos traduzidos podem ter, no máximo, 6 meses da data de expedição. A prova de integração civil é válida por um ano. Esses prazos devem "casar" para o dia da aplicação. Se por algum motivo houver atrasos (por exemplo se o parceiro precisar renovar o contrato no meio tempo, para poder se qualificar -- contrato de 1 ano ou 6 meses), você tem que garantir que os outros documentos ainda estejam validos. Sobre o tempo de resposta do visto: depende muito e não há um padrão. Pode-se receber rápido mas eles tem 90 dias para responder. Na minha opinião o processo não é difícil mas tem que ser muito, muito, muito planejado.

No stamps. We were together for 4 years, as I had 3 times the student visa and 1 time the search year visa before we asked for the partner visa

Hi! When you sent everything by Post (within the Netherlands) did you have trouble with the delivery of the package? I have tried twice (!!) to do the application by Post but PostNL is giving me confusing information. It says that it has been delivered but at the same time that is going back to the sender (but directed to the IND office not mine). Did you experience something like this? 😢😢

Hi there! Thanks for the video. Is it possible to apply for the unmarried partner visa while being an au pair in the Netherlands? If I am already staying in the Netherlands as an au pair, would I also need to take the 1st exam? I was just wondering, because it was mentioned that the first exam should be taken abroad.

If your aupair visa is still valid and the new one gets ready on time, then I believe you can skip the first exam and don't need to go back, but call the IND to be sure.

Existe alguma protecao prevista em lei se caso o brasileiro (nao-residente) ainda sim consiga mater seu status imigratorio provando o abuso e precisando se separar? Por exemplo, nos EUA se vc provar que o esposo/a eh abusivo/a, ou mesmo um vizinho como testemunha, a pessoa consegue aplicar para o green card sem depender do parceiro e ficar nos EUA. Obridada

Parece que existem duas situações: 1- Se a pessoa não holandesa já estiver morando aqui com o parceiro há 5 anos, a pessoa tem o direito de aplicar para uma residência, independente do parceiro, e continuar no país. 2- Se a pessoa puder provar que ela não estará segura mesmo voltando para o país de origem, por causa de ameaças sérias e que podem ser provadas, pode ter um visto humanitário para continuar aqui. Acho que o desafio vai ser provar que, mesmo voltando pro país de origem, a pessoa não vai estar segura. Eu não sou advogada, isso é só o que está no site da imigração. Resumão: Mesmo a pessoa estando “ilegal” ela pode entrar em contato com a policia e denunciar os abusos e dizer que nao se sente segura em casa (é se possível ela tenha provas dos abusos psicológicos como: audios, mensagens, videos bla bla) e também e importante que ela faça uma denúncia oficial e pegue um papel tipo o nosso boletim de ocorrência, então ela pode ser mandada a um abrigo de mulheres (vrouwopvang), e la junto com as assistentes sociais ela pode entrar com um pedido de visto através do ind para mulheres que sofrem violência domestica aqui da Holanda ( para esse visto ela precisa ter provas como: boletim de ocorrência da policia, declaração medica dos abusos sofridos e uma carta do abrigo informando que ela esta residindo no abrigo... talvez o ind queira mais provas de porque ela quer residir ou tem que residir na holanda)...... eu ja vi isso acontecer com uma mulher do Cazaquistão então sei que é possível, porem tem outros fatores relevantes como se a brasileira tiver filhos, ela pode aplicar para um visto da lei de chaves... se quiser pode entrar em contato comigo meu insta @construindoumavida (me envia um direct) que eu fico feliz de ajudar e ficarei grata em orientar, ou a flavia da compasso social 😊

Hey there, I agree with you. Unfortunately it doesn't happen here. Anyway, I was also done with the exams (which was super easy btw) at once - literally at once because I did them all in one single day (with exception of schrijven) and got one grade 7 (spreken), two 9s and one 10! Later I did the schrijven and also got a 10 for it. Did your partner do that? You are right, if I was speaking with Frank maybe I would have had a 10 in the spreken too, but unfortunately it did not happen. Anyway, this video is made for who doesn't speak Dutch, so it would not make sense to do it here 😘

If you have lots of proof of an exclusive relationship like texts back and forth over about 2 years but you have never met your partner can you still be eligible for the permit? Also if you overstay your visa due to the permit getting rejected and you try to resubmit will they know that you've overstated (I'm an American citizen)

I am living here for 4 years with a student visa and and I need to re apply for a visa, this time I want a visa because of my partner who is dutch. Pq 1- Frank não fala português. 2- Eu já tinha gasto 3 horas editando e por legenda em cada palavra dita ia me levar mais umas 4h. 3- Eu tenho um trabalho em tempo integral, tbm quero me exercitar e estudar, não vivo só pra editar vídeo. Eu já expliquei no post no Facebook. Infelizmente, eu não vivo pra gravar vídeos, adoraria, mas isso é algo que eu faço quando sobra tempo (e isso leva bastante tempo então tem que sobrar pelo menos umas 10 horas se eu quiser por legenda). Faço pq gosto, mas infelizmente não tenho tempo pra fazer perfeito.
