This is fantastic. Thank you so much for this explanation. This is going to make mine and my fiancée's application process so much easier. It is a difficult and expensive thing we do for love and you have just made our union so much more achievable. I have tried to get information from Immigration but they claim that it would constitute advice and they are forbidden to do that. I am a simple Aussie man who has fallen in love with a simple Brazilian man. All we know is that we need to spend the rest of our lives together. He is helpless because he has no income but should he be disadvantaged because Brazil has a terrible economy (he has a Teaching degree but cannot get work) or because his English is limited? He just wanted to marry me and spend his life, devoted to me and to be an active member of Australian society (he has already expressed a desire to get involved with a charity here even though he certainly needs an income). Forgive me for rambling but I know this is going to be an emotional rollercoaster which started here with tears of joy to finally understand how we must begin. Thank you.

Thank you....Very informative video on how to do it. My partner is in South Africa and like you described I have work commitments here as an Australian born citizen and she has work and financial commitments over there to keep up the security and safety of her home while I try to work out how to make it all possible to move her here so both of us can be married finally. We have been in a very committed relationship for over 5 years now. This video told me it’s possible with a lot of hard work to save documentation now and gather evidence even though somehow we have to try live together for another 12 months straight instead of two months on three months off !! What a nightmare.

very informative and thank you very much Julie Williams, my 309 visa was granted a year ago and I have an up coming flight last july 24,2020 but has been cancelled due to caps am wondering when the boarder would be open for immediate family as the airline kept on saying that they are given priority to Australian and passport holder citizen only. Hello Julie,I have 2 questions: 1- Should I write Future Plan Statement separately and signed it? I think when we were doing IMMI online, we have done it automatically. Should we write and sign it again and upload from IMMI attachments?2-According to statistics, at least 12 month will be taken to grant the 309 visa. Biometrics and medical examination results are updated by the relevant collection centre when you complete them. The Department specifically states not to contact the Department for health examination result. We recommend you contact the collection centre to confirm the results have been submitted if you have concern.

I think apply offshore, it might be quicker. I'm an Australian in France, and we are putting together my partner's visa application to submit here. You might get permanent right away because you have been together 10 years and have children (similar to us - 3 years and 1 child together).

The Department of Home Affairs specifies a s/c 309 visa application would take between 13 months to 19 months to be processed.

There is a sponsor limitation. You must wait five years from the lodgement date of the first application to the lodgement of the second application

The Department indicates the s/c 457 visa may take from 12-14 months to be finalized. If your husband’s visa application was submitted in February 2018, with reference to the published processing standard, we expect the application to be finalized in the first half of 2019. Hi Tenzin, Current global processing standard shows an average processing time for a partner visa application lodged overseas to be 13-17 months; an application lodged while the applicant in Australia could take 20-25 months. Whilst the Department states 75%-90% of applications can be finalized within the specified timeframe, processing times are also impacted each month by changes in application volumes, seasonal peaks, complex cases and incomplete applications. You may start looking at your application to verify whether your application falls into the categories listed above. For example, have you provided all the required documents to support your visa application? including police certificates, medical examinations, updated relationship evidence (as it’s been about 1.5 years since your lodgement, the Department would expect further evidence to be presented).

Current process time for Partner Visa subclass 300 is between 13 months to 16 months. However, it may vary due to individual circumstances and; Department work back log and their resources. Individual circumstances vary including: whether you have lodged a complete application, including all necessary supporting documents how promptly you respond to any requests for additional information how long it takes to perform required checks on the supporting information provided how long it takes to receive additional information from external agencies, particularly in relation to health, character, and national security requirements

Hi, I am just wondering, can a panel doctor that conducts health examinations who is appointed overseas by the Australian government be eligible to sign a Commonwealth Statutory Declaration? @@Joseph-ig6sh excuse me asking you, they banned you for 3 year ? I applied to a tourist visa three years ago, the same thing happened to me. Now I want to apply for a partner visa ... my question is if it can be applied before turning 3 or should it be after?
