Does it matter if the harness is from a 4x4? OR does the push button start versus the keyfob have any bearing on the harness you get in order to keep using say the key fob?

Vehconfig3 display compass set to yes Vehconfig3 display outside temp set to yes These two configs turn on the compass for the nav and cluster and also show the outside temperature on the 8.4

With this current setup, does the auto temperature control work? I understand that dual zone will only work with physical addition of a blender and maybe a temperature/humidity sensor.

Awesome work.. not sure if it’s possible, but the passenger climate control buttons you may be able to tinker with it and make them redundant buttons to the drivers side

You know what pissed me off? Some time in 2017 UConnect decided to remove the Pandora and Spotify apps from the pre Android Auto / Car Play 8.4's. I used those apps all the time in my 2013 Ram, and briefly in my 2017 Ram, until an update removed the apps. Fucking chode move on Uconnect's part. I really served them a helping of fat D over the phone about that. Otherwise the 8.4 is still one of the best infotainment units on the market. Easy to use and very responsive. Thanks for the write up on doing a conversion!

Isn’t it easier to just connect with Bluetooth and use whatever music app you want? I have the basic bitch Bluetooth and it’s no problem for me to connect

@@325spoon The apps used to work via bluetooth. It was convenient. Didn't have to fumble with my phone while driving. I was really bummed when the apps were removed.

The early uconnects are not carplay compatible. As far as i knkow you have to change the entire unit to get it or use after market solutions. So your 2013 truck probably still is the way it was. It was just your 2017 that got changed because it a was the newer unit. Cant remember the numbers off the top of my head\

Hey! I swapped harnesses like you did, cluster works, radio works after adding that power to the amp. But my park light is flashing and won’t let me take the key out. Did you happen to encounter this?

Did you have to change the USB port in the center console? I've read that if you want to upgrade to the Uconnect 8.4 2018+ you have to change that module as well to get more functions working.

The last time I disconnected my negative battery cable and reconnect it, my clock did not synchronize with the navigation system. I have to uncheck the auto and manually change the clock. Hopefully, this makes sense, but how do I reset the clock to auto synchronize with the navigation system?

The Harmon Kardon tweeters work great but the 6x9's aren't that good without an amp. I had a ton of them from my old assembly job making the door panels for chargers/300s. lol

Possible yes….cost a fortune, absolutely. Knob is electric and 8 speed tranny. Console or floor shift is 6 speed and cable driven I believe. Just my .02 cents though.

So I have the small screen 2013 ram and I tried to swap it to the uconnect 8.4 and every time I try to connect the uconnect it blows my fuse and I couldn’t find no info on it but any help ? When I connect my original stereo the fuse doesn’t blow but only when I connect the 8.4

Ok, I can understand the Laramie dash. Very nice! What I don't understand is going to the 8.4 UConnnect. In my '17 Bighorn I removed my 8.4. I went to a Phoenix 12.4inch Android OS Tesla radio. Added 2 10inch subs and upgraded all speakers to Hertz Ledend Pro with appropriate amps. The Uconnect 8.4 is not that good even with the premium speaker's and amp. The Tesla radio comes with a new bezel and you maintain all previous functions. Even if one doesn't what the Tesla style radio there are much better head units than the UConnnect!

I have to agree. This is good information for people but to purposely upgrade to this piece of garbage that's going to die on you randomly (they are notorious for it), and then you can't control your A/C zones once it does. Ask me how I know.

I just bought a used ram 1500 express and it is so basic, i almost returned the truck it was too basic but it grew on me. a lot needs to be upgraded so i figured since im going through the same as you, why not pass that head unit on to someone in need.

What a pain in the ass.. and im over here ripping the 8.4 uconnect out for premium hifi audio options. factory amplifier and all that is a huge negative in my opinion. There are a ton of us throwing that shit away. And the dash speaker. It is a no go for hifi center stage. another thing commonly removed. One benfit to the alpine system, thopugh is the harness has the dash speakers and doors wired seperately.. wehere the standard speaker setup has the dash and doors on the same output. the uconnect is kind of clunky but there was things about it i did like... That said.. i have a prestine 8.4 Uconnect with nav i just pulled... being i changed a bunch on alfa obd in my truck. idk if the SRT boot up, hellcat backgrounds, and performance pages will follow the uconnect.. but it definitely may appear to be a Hellcat SRT uconnect when plugged in. Its not. Its the original Ram 8.4 uconnect with nav activated after the fact. I have the center removal able bezel with it AND i have the center console media center with the aux. sd card, and usb plug. All for sale
