I find it awful the ads so I had premium lite then that vanished so noe I try premium , it’s a cost, found artist I listened to on itunes, skipped itunes, and have it here. More unexpensive this way.

micro mario that's the FAQ 😆 well... If i have to keep only 1 gear in my studio, it would be the Tempest. Simple as that. It's not as good as a prophet 6 in term of sound but more like a polyevolver with many modulations matrix that p6 doesn't have. Plus drums synthesis and good Linn samples. It's very deep and versatile. Very underated gear cause you have take time on it to deliver good sound. You have to know synthesis. Which i didn't so much when i got it. Fortunatly there are some great tuto on YT(like Adam Schneider's channel). So you can design any kind of kick, specialy if you combine analog osc and samples.. it's infinite. Overall it's sounds woody and organic with a great presence. AR sounds great, an bit more cold and clinical but also a bit more punchy in high bass (100-250Hz). I like to use it for hard techno kicks with on board reverb. Actually on this live, i use 50/50 Tempest and AR. Hard kick are AR, smooth are Tempest. I don't use the sample part of the AR cause i have the OT (i don't use the sample either anymore hehe). So it's a great tool too, depends what style you'd like to create maybe.. also the workflow matters. Some prefer AR (great sequencer) but i like the old school and straight Tempest's one. Try before buy 😊

@ wow i am blown away by your reply not many bother nowdays. Ok will sure do try em. Me and synthesis are 0 im raw trippy tech/acid and minimal but with distorted percs to drive you nuts. But ok on my sets i barely perform those. Im good ole school techno minimal and jungle acid vinyl haha whatever ahaha. Ok will try em for sure. Tempest feels almost emotional from ytube while rytm just another drum machine with sampling and good seq abilities. I would go tr 909 instead rytm any time of the day if i had 20k to spend for a studio hahaha. Maybe tempest and a complimentary tr09 with a make noise 0 coast and an octatrack or mpc or mc707 whatever? If they dont fit i can always sell em for vinyl and a 1000cc bike😂😂😂

not at all, OT is just fine, just used a light portable configuration for this live. Tempest + laptop + bassline3 + FX. As i faced some technical issue (general stage electric shutdown) during the show, i recorded it again in the studio using the same configuration and illustrated this new recording with some video footage of the live show which were almost similar. ;) I'll use the OT back in the forthcoming summer session, soon to be recorded :)

In the studio, i use the OT for sequencing midi for the synth and also sometime as pickup machine but less as a sampler player (it's changing again cause i like to send audio loops into my new VC340 now). But trully i couldn't get rid of my laptop cause i play sometime very long recorded synth sequences and i have so many loops & sequences in my Ableton session, OT couldn't stand it i think. Also it's easier for me to acces to the loop/sequence i want to launch in the laptop rather on the OT. I basically have more than 40 tracks as stems in my Ableton session.. so i have no idea how OT could go with that and how i could play them. And finally, i work on my laptop, it would be more wasted to load everything into the OT, prepare the sequences etc... so i stick to my laptop :)

VØSNE Cheers, I figured it might be something like that - appreciate the info. I have been stubbornly playing all-hardware sets with the OT at the center, as master clock/sequencer/sampler/pseudo-mixer, but it certainly imposes limitations (and adds to the workload of building a set!), even when you maximize all the parts and such. I may have to stop being such a hardware purist and let my laptop back into the setup ;) Also thanks - your sets convinced me to blow the dust off my Tempest and start using it again - it was not getting as much love as my DRM1 or RYTM for a long time :)

StylusNation afterall there are dsp & processors in both world, hardware and software, all i concider is efficiency for what music i want to deliver. I used TouchAble with iPad for some time instead of launching clips with the laptop pad and it was pretty efficient and fast, unfortunately not working anymore i don't know why.. i don't like cntrl-r pads neither so for me, the fastest and easiest way remain the mouse. Also my mix is done in Ableton at the studio and with the cntrl-r, i just need to push the fader at max and it'll bring the fader in ableton at the right level. I also like to play with filters/eq and i use reaktor sometime in live. About the Tempest, it definitely needs some love. It's my fav gear so far. I recommand to check Adam Schneider's channel for kick tutorial, it's a game changer. I also use AR, i like it, great sequancer and instantanious good kicks but for me, Tempest has the mojo. ;)

VØSNE appreciate all the insights! Love the AR as well - lots of great ways to liven up a show with the performance and scene modes, just wish the sequencer had the same number of banks as the OT so I could cram more into it for longer live sets. These days I actually use it more as a sampler than for drums (for my jungle side-project - I use the OT to sequence & chop up my breaks and longer samples and the AR for synth samples, one-shots & synth bass). Appreciate the suggestion on the Tempest tutorial - looking forward to using it to its full potential :)

Ben Hipkiss if i had to get rid of every gear, i would keep the Tempest. However it's a deep gear which need some love to get what you want. AR is easier to use to get instant good kicks but i love the Tempest organic sound 😉 Check out Adam Schneider's channel for kick tutorial with tempest. It's really deep.

2 gopro for the stage + studio (powered by usb) and 1 Nikon for the close-up short cuts. Problem with the NIkon is that it can make movie for 20mn max, so i have to launch it every 20mn (if i don't forget lol)

i'm using midi clock SND Acme-4. Laptop is slave is all the hardware. Like this, i can play/stop everything in time and change/load Tempest projects for exemple.
