At Valleyfest 2022, the Silangan Dancers presented a mesmerizing display of one of the many captivating folk dances from the Philippines. Prepare to be enthralled by their performance as they showcase the rich cultural heritage and vibrant traditions of the Philippines through their dance.
"Paru-Parong Bukid" is a traditional Filipino folk song known for its lively and catchy melody. It is believed to have originated from a Filipino-Spanish song called "Mariposa Bella" that dates back to the 1890s during the American invasion of the Philippines. However, over time, "Mariposa Bella" was forgotten, and in 1938, "Paru-Parong Bukid" gained popularity when it was used as the soundtrack for a film with the same title. The Tagalog rendition of the song was composed by Felipe de León.
