Wow, they’ve had some big fires this year. Usually anything over 4-5 alarms seems to be a rarity, at least in my area of New Hampshire. Most of our fires are at most 3 alarm

Same here, but in Oregon. Our last five alarm was five years ago, but we just recently had a 4th alarm but it’s the first 4th alarm in a couple years.

This was about the same intensity fire as Marcal three years ago, and much larger than the line of abandoned factories that burned in Passaic back in 1985...

In listening to last night's broadcasts on television of the fire, I kept hearing them mention fire boats. Now I know the Passaic fire department doesn't have a fire boat and I don't think there's many in existence down the river. Plus the main avenue / Gregory avenue bridge and the Union avenue bridge do not open anymore. You ain't going to get a boat up past Lyndhurst anymore at least by the river. Anyone have any inputs out there?

Newark boat was dispatched but couldnt make it under the aforesaid bridges. Kearny and Secaucus were then dispatched but due to low tide also couldnt make it to the scene.

Yes but in wallington there is spots to deploy boats

@@justindecker9282 yes, for scuba search and rescue and recovery vessels, not firefighting boats. They're almost never trailered.

Yeah Wallington was out bassicly all night they stand by till 11: 30 on amber Wacth on there side of the river and out with fire alarms almost all night because the wind was pushing all the smoke and embers into wallington

Yes Neptune was called and in use.

@@candiafirefyta thanks again for the reply. Can I ask you 1 more question? What does each additional alarm bring? Where I retired from each alarm is 4 engines, 1 truck, 2 medic units, 2 B/C’s and a safety officer. I was curious what it is your area. Seems like you guys have a really good system for increasing alarms.
