In Bristol, Ann catches 3 passengers with 87 kilos of tobacco worth nearly £11,000. It's the largest amount officers have seen for years, but the passengers claim it is all for their own consumption. In Cornwall, the officers on Customs cutter Searcher have the power to board any vessel, but when a sailor refuses to let them onto his yacht, the crew board it anyway and swab it for drugs.
In Gatwick and Bristol Airports in England customs agents check baggage and travellers to uphold allowances and prevent illicit activity and substances from entering the UK.

For non EU taxed ciggys it is usually 200 pieces you can bring in tax free. If assumed one cigarette without packaging is weighing 1g he brought in 87000 ciggys. Which is 86800 above his duty free limit, quite a lot. Even if you smoke a carton a day, which, I think, is 20 pieces, it still is 4350 days which still would take around 11 years. That is far gone for personal use I'd reckon. @@acornsucks2111

The laws have changed since this video was released. Now, you're allowed 200 cigarettes or 250 grams of tobacco. There are other items on the list (cigars, cigarillos) and you can mix the products (i.e. half cigarette and half tobacco). These are not guidelines ~~ these are the limits. I mean he’s not really in the wrong, the fact that there’s even a limit on cigarettes and that even if they’re from EU they have to pay taxes on them. It’s a disgustingly greedy money grab and the amount that cigarettes are taxed in the UK is borderline theft, i don’t blame anyone trying to sneak in cigarettes as they should. I would support the entirety of smokers in the UK sneaking them into the country. This is a very similar example of what started the revolutionary war between the US and UK lmao. You do understand most smokers who roll their own use machines that dont fit in your pocket to roll them, and we dont actually roll them like joints - right? As for patches and gum, I was unaware they showed a full body scan on air checking his body, and even a full scan showing the entire contents of his bags. We also didnt see him urinate or take a dump, does that mean he is a human marvel who never uses the bathroom, or that maybe the show is only showing snippets from the course of just a few hours and quiet possibly he did those things off screen?

I fly from Asia to Europe every year. It takes anywhere between 16-19 hours depending on the transit time and I can never sleep on the plane so I'm always stopped by customs when I arrive in my home country presumably due to my tired appearance. Questions about food, medication, tobacco, alcohol, you name it. I tell them I have just come off a long flight without sleep and can't we just scan the bag and get it over with. They usally do scan it then and send me on my way but I'm sure it's frustrating for them.

@JeffSmith-eq3kc
@JeffSmith-eq3kc 2 жыл бұрын
Yepp and a rolling machine is far more efficient so getting 40 cigarettes per 50g package is very plausible. A standard cigarette has 1g so saying 80-100 would be standard is simply untrue when major manufacturers would get 50. It's a lot of tobacco but split between 3 people it's nowhere near the amount they made it out to be. They could very easily smoke that much in less than 2 years. If they were really that inexpensive he could have saved himself a tremendous amount of money buying for personal use in that quantity.

A standard cigarette has roughly 1 gram of tobacco in it so that's 87,000 cigarettes. For that to last a year, 3 people would have to smoke roughly 80 cigarettes per day. That's 4 packs a day. It's and insane amount of cigarettes but it's not as outrageous as I originally thought.

Wake up. If you are entering a country in your mobile "home", whether it is a camper van or a boat, you can expect it to be searched by customs officers because of legal restrictions on what you can bring in. If they did not do so, the country would have an even bigger drug problem than it has. It would also lose tax revenue on imported goods, which means that other people would have to pay higher taxes. Your argument makes no sense, and there is reason to suspect that you are anti-law enforcement and may have a tendency to be a habitual law breaker of some sort.

@@harpharpharpharp1971 That's how it works with trucks with a sleeper cab. If you are stopped by the police, they can't search your sleeping area freely because it's part of your "home", but if you are crossing a border they have every right to look for hidden cigarettes, guns or drugs.
@someguy4915
@someguy4915 2 жыл бұрын
@@coast2coast00 That is not because it 'is part of your home' but simply because police need 'probable cause' to search a vehicle, bags and/or frisk a person. They cannot just walk up to random people and start frisking them or entering random homes because they feel like it. If however they stop a camper and smell cannabis from outside, that can be probable cause to search inside, whether you call it a home or not, police calls it a possible crime scene and is allowed in under probable cause. If the police stop a truck, it is usually because of poor driving/driver being tired and sleep deprived due to driving too long. So there would be no reason to search the truck at all because you won't find a more rested driver there... If police stop a truck because they have intel that it is carrying illegal items they can absolutely search it. It would be hilarious if a drug smuggler could just hide their dope in the sleeper cab of a truck and be impervious to law enforcement due to your idea that anything you call home cannot be searched...

Try as I might, I searched and could find no information on 'Paul Brady' (or any person) who was apprehended by customs at Gatwick (or any UK airport) and then refused to poop for 48 days. Strangely, though, there's actually a plethora of information about a man from Brixton, London (Lamarr Chambers) who was arrested after a police chase and then refused to poop for 47 days. Eventually police dropped the charges against him over health and safety concerns. There are NUMEROUS articles about Mr. Chambers and not a single one about "Mr. Brady". I'm leaning towards the customs story being fictional, and adapted from the actual story of Lamarr Chambers - it did say it was a reconstruction, so fair play. Only thing is that the customs officer seemed pretty emotional over the whole thing. Maybe he's just a good actor... I don't know. It seems implausible that there would be two people on "bowel-movement-strikes" for 47/48 days at all... much less a situation where one person becomes infamous for it, and the other gets nary a mention anywhere on the Internet.
