Passing 800 steps up to the statue of Jesus in Vung Tau, Vietnam (part.1)
Climbing the 800 steps to the Jesus the King statue in Vung Tau, Vietnam is a popular pilgrimage and tourist activity. The statue, modeled after the Jesus the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, stands 36 meters tall and offers stunning panoramic views of the city and the surrounding coastline.
The climb can be challenging, especially in the heat, but there are plenty of rest stops along the way, and the views make it all worthwhile. Here are some tips for making the climb:
- Start early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds.
- Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
- Bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
- Take your time and pace yourself.

Once you reach the top, you can enter the statue's base and climb a further 133 steps to reach the shoulders for even more spectacular views. There is also a small chapel inside the statue.
The entrance fee to the Jesus the King statue is 50,000 VND for adults and 20,000 VND for children. Opening hours are from 7:15 am to 11:30 am and 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The statue is closed on Thursdays for cleaning.
