Good on him but one thing I will say, just because he has dsc1 doesn't make him a stalker. It's like passing your driving test, from then you can learn. I will say he maybe shouldn't go out on his own just yet if he forgets to put the safety on...

Here in Ni you have to complete your dsc1 if you want to use a deer calibre rifle , 22.250 is the largest calibre allowed without it

You say he is qualified after 3 days..? How come? as all the papers have to be marked and then to an external verifier for marking and you don't know if you have passed until you receive your certificate through the post 4 weeks later.

It's interesting to see those high seats made like we used to in the States. Now they're considered unsafe. Not that they are, that's just the general notion. I find it curious y'all haven't switched to the same made in China steel stands we have. And no safety harness either! I'm not saying one way is better, just different.

DSC1. The course developed because the serial Fellators in SNH are unable to asses someone as fit and competent themselves.

That shooting test, from prone seems rather basic. Is there a test at a moving target? What most people don't realise how hard stalking is. It's physically al LOT harder than it looks.

@@Siritos Fair enough. Not even walking? I did my tests over here in Sweden with moving targets etc. But I've never felled anything moving, I'm not that confident.

Depends on your permission. Not a legal requirement though. I got approved for .243 and got permission for deer without dsc.

Sounding oblivious to what the gun will be like with a swarovski scope on the top makes me laugh, wouldn't dump 1000s into a gun if you didn't expect it to be nice.

I have been a shooter for over 40 years, I have never taken my DSC1. When I was shooting in Scotland I always remember the keeper telling me that the whole thing of DSC1/2 is just another way of making money.

rico d'sanchez you can hunt without it, it’s not a legal requirement. However it’s becoming more and more insisted upon.

There is obviously a profit margin associated with any course as people won’t run a four day course on a cost basis. As I’m currently on day 1 of the course I can say I’m enjoying it and I am learning a lot of the important subjects that would be tough going if you were to do it yourself.

What's up with all the sissy sticks? Don't they teach the 4 classic positions? Why are these contraptions allowed for testing? If you can't shoot offhand with a hasty sling, you should probably stick to punching holes in paper.

Taking your dsc1 shows a level of competence and keenness, it’s shocking that you can gain permission to shoot on land and be granted a FAC to shoot deer and foxes etc without any training what so ever its ridiculous, you may be an experienced shooter but am sure you have learned from your mistakes, this course is designed to try and eliminate some of them mistakes I am sure you have made, we should all stride to learn more skills and competency when it comes to dispatching live quarry/game, I have been shooting for 30+ years and am an ex army soldier of 14 years and target shooter both military and civi and am still learning ( every day is a school day)
