I have a client that is celebrating passover this week and I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to help keep within the holiday and religious practices so I don't overstep or mistep while I'm cleaning their home? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
@JewGotit
@JewGotit Жыл бұрын
Shalom Nikki! so kind of you to ask and care about your client. Your cleaning their home for Passover Pesach? If you are, I'd scrub more than usual and make sure if you have towels with flour, or bread / cake products, to use new ones as much as you can. the Jewish people have different standards, so if you're cleaning for pesach, just ask what they prefer you to clean for the Holiday and if there's a place theyd like extra cleaning with. Usually the kitchen, oven, fridge, sink. Happy cleaning to you Nikki!

I'm not Jewish but I love learning where traditions come from and how they get adopted. Your thoughts on the egg hunt sent up the light bulb in my head. Other concepts that I noted are how Muslims do not eat pork and fast and how African Americans here in the US celebrate Kwanzaa with what appears to me as a Menorah. Head coverings in houses of worship and other times are also one. The Jewish religion, being one of the world's oldest, appears to have suffered "cultural appropriation" multiple times over the years. ( to coin a WOKE term in my old age)
@JewGotit
@JewGotit Жыл бұрын
Shalom Patricia! I love what your wrote, actually these are things for everyone! The Jewish people are just supposed to be examples of what Gd wants from people and the world. So covering the hair, not eating pork, fasting, candles etc are all things that can bring more holiness and peace to the world, so if people are doing this for the one and only Gd, it is a good thing!

We do not do laundry for one week? Could you please explain it 😮
@JewGotit
@JewGotit 4 ай бұрын
Shalom! Pesach is one week for the Jewish people, April 22-29. So Monday night the 22nd before sundown you need to have all your laundry done, clean and dried for the whole week. April 29 after 3 stars are out (check those times online) you can do laundry again. This is a half chag week where we abstain from some work like laundry, so we can enjoy our week filled holiday without working about some daily chores

Shalom Diana! I use kosher for Pesach vinegar. Sometimes regular vinegar has yeast and other additives, so make sure it’s made with 100% vinegar or has the Pesach kosher certificate on it
